M70 Quadro fx 1400 has only 8 pipes!!! :(

I bought fx go 1400 couple of days ago on Ebay, it came from M70. I put it in my 9300 hoping for similar performance to 6800go, with or without overclocking.

Anyway, to my surprise, Riva Tuner is showing only 8 pipes! This sucks. I really though that it was virtually the same chip as 6800go which has 12. No wonder I score only 2800 stock in 3Dmark 05. This is with 2.26Ghz Pentium M and 1GB of ram.

Can anyone with M70 reply to this and prove different? Am I the only unlucky bastard that got cut down fx1400?

That is the correct score range for a stock Fx go1400. I never actually looked at my card, before I upgraded to the 7800gtx, in Rivatuner. If you think about it, it has to be a 12 pipe card. No 8 pipe card on the market can even approach that kind of score at those kinds of clock speeds (275mhz core, 590mhz DDR). Maybe you should try and do some overclocking?

well, you have to think, what kind of card on the market has 8 pipes and a 256bit interface? not many, maybe the older 5900 generation... so while 6800 at stock will score about 3200, this one scores 2800.

I did do some overclocking. 370 core, 770 memory... and that got me 3800 in 3dmark 05.... as far as I remember, people on similar clocks on 6800 break into 4000 easily (with even slower processors). 6800 ultra scores about 5200, I had that one too.

thanks for the reply though, I wish someone would look at their fx1400 in Riva Tuner and make this easier for me.

Hey,

OCed my M70 today, got 1480 on 3dMark06. 12 pipelines? no idea, but its fast enough for great BF2
