I have an acer 5672 wlmi. I recently bought a brand new Samsung Syncmaster 730B. When I have my monitor connected to through the VGA port on my laptop, it will sometimes flash uncontroably for 2 or 3 minutes at a time. This does not happen while I play counter-strike, it only happens in windows.. You guys have any idea?

Hey guys, I just noticed that when it flashes my CLI.exe process is using a high amount of CPU only at the time of the flashing

CLI is the ATI control center...
I had a similar problem with the omega drivers and watched movies ona tv with Svideo...
I switched to the 6.10 ATI caatalst drivers and so far ti has been fine.. but now have other issues ( I just hate the control center.. really slow)

well actually, I thought that might fix it, and if that's true, then I have no problem getting a DVI cable (my monitor supports vga and dvi) but even if my monitor didnt support dvi, I could get a dvi to vga adapter

but, I would still like to know what causes this

If your laptop is anything like mine your missing the 4 pins around the cross on the dvi connector for analog output........my dvi is dvi-d only

I am missing those pins, what exactly does that mean, and what does mean for me?
basically it means no analog output from your dvi port.

You can read more about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI
