Intel PRO Wireless 3945

Thread Starter
Hi,

I am very new to linux so please explain everything!

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 with a Intel PRO Wireless 3945 card and i dont understand the terminal. Is their a distro that will work out the box and without any need to do anything else? I mean just scan, and then i enter my network key.

I have heard very good things about Mandriva 2007 Free.

Please Help!

P.S

If it is only minor configuation in the terminal i might be able to manage.

first of all, if you wanna become a good linux user, you will need to learn, and learn to love the terminal...but don't worry that will come with time, in the meantime using a gui is ok.

from my personal experience, i actually highly discourage Madriva, Fedora, and SuSe....although of the 3 madriva is probably the better one. That said, Ubuntu has probably the best hardware support out there for most people, with a HUGE message board, a pretty good wiki, and sub-projects like Automatix, it is an extremely good distro for new, and experienced users alike to use because it simply WORKS!

Some other suggestions inculde: elive, Kanotix, PCLinuxOS, and Sabayon.

Here's a solution in Ubuntu, but it doesn't look incredibly easy.
