Thanks brownstone and fellas I found it...

Anyone figure out how to get it working with Itunes and not have the option grayed out?

So this can't be done with the XPS Gen 2? Even though I have the same freakin' lights and what is basically the same chassis? Even with the latest Quickset, I get no options ANYWHERE to enable the lights to go to music... Pretty lame...

Yep it does work with the XPS Gen 2. dont download Quickset from the XPS Gen2 sction, download it from the M1710 section

I went to the M1710 section, downloaded Quickset, installed it, restarted.

Now, not only are my checkboxes, menus, etcetera screwed up (has a blue box with random lines/noise through them) -- I STILL see no option ANYWHERE in Quickset for following music or checking any music apps.

WTF?

Ah yes. OK, NOW it works! Thank you!

I can now only select Windows Media Player, while iTunes and WinAmp are both greyed out. I use iTunes and ONLY iTunes. But like the other guy on here, it's greyed out. Any ideas?

I really want this working with Itunes! Winamp is great with good equalizers. It also uses less resources. However Itunes, once equalizers are adjusted, is not bad and shows album art which is neat.

Someone figure out how to get Itunes working!!!

Thx.

Sorry, I don't use itunes . . . but I do use CD Art Display with Winamp to display cover art (also works with WMP).

Thanks! Neat software.

Yeah, and it comes with some cool skins, too. The new version works with foobar, but I like winamp because it has the best DSP, IMO--Izotope Ozone.

Anyway, foobar is too complicated for me to figure out.

i've just downloaded the program and it works on wmp and itunes... my advice is that you try to download the latest version of itunes if you haven't yet done that yet... i am currently using itunes version 7.0.1.8 if that helps...

I am already using the latest iTunes, which is 7.0.2.16. It sounds like you aren't, and maybe that is the problem?

What version are the other people on here using? Does it work with that version? Thanks -JB

I am using 7.0.2.16 as well and it doesn't work.

Hmm, curious,

does anyone think this could work with the XPS 700? I'm going to try it when I can...

If the option is greyed out in quickset for itunes, winamp, media player reinstall the program ( ie once newest quicksets installed then reinstall itunes ) and it should be selectable after a reboot, thats how it went for me.

The chap said it right earlier the lights need to be set up to respond to any sound ie mic games etc, just as it does in mp wa Itunes, would then have lights in every game, maybe a seperate program needs to be made to listen to the sounds and trigger the fx plug in but it would be a good thing for dell or any one to do.

After all whos really gonna bother to write software for the xps unless dell bribe some games makers or the programmers own an xps.

come on dell get ya finger out

Also on cnet he says its the first time ever overclocking was possible for a laptop, i dont think thats true, maybe for dell laptops if you dont count pin mods, but i see rockdirect advertising limited overclocking abillities in there laptops before the 7600G was available.
