I've had my Sager 5760 for about 4 months now, and I have just started to have a weird problem with the fans, or more specifically, one fan and GPU temps. I did not overclock because I feel that I have enough graphical power already, but I use Rivatuner as a way to monitor temps and video card memory usage. What I have started to notice recently is that both my fans would turn off, and my GPU core temp would rise to about 50C before the center (small) fan would fire up really loudly. Then a couple of minutes later, as the temp continues to rise, the larger fan kicks in, and the end result is that it sounds like my laptop after an hour long gaming session, but without any gaming on my part. GPU core temp would start out at around 32C with no fans at startup, then after about 10 minutes it would start rising pretty fast, around 1C per 2 seconds. When it hits around 50C center small fan kicks in, then the larger fan kicks in a couple of minutes after that. After the GPU core temp has decreased to around 32C for several minutes, the small fan shuts off, and then I can barely hear the large fan spinning. But the large fan shuts off as well, and then after about 10 minutes the temp starts rising again and the cycle starts over again. My GPU core temp graph looks like a series of triangles.... My ambient room temperature is about 50-60F. Do you guys think that the cold temperature is causing the fans to shut off? I have the Rivatuner hardware temperature log file(.hml) if anyone wants to see the funky mountain range temp graph.
