ATI x1600 vid drivers?

I was wondering if I need to ever update the video card drivers on my MBP?
Coming from a PC background , I always kept up to date with Nvidia drivers when they came out.

If so...where do you get the x1600 drivers?
I didn't see them on ATI site.

Apple does the drivers for the Laptops...any updates are through Software Update.
