THIS DRIVER ONLY SUPPORTS THE FOLLOWING DELL DEVICE ID'S:

NVIDIA_G70.DEV_0098.2 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800"
NVIDIA_G70.DEV_0099.2 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 GTX"
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0297.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX"
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0298.2 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS"
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0299.2 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX"
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_029A.2 = "NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M"
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_029B.2 = "NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500M"
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_029D.1 = "NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500M"
NVIDIA_G72.DEV_01D7.2 = "NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M"
NVIDIA_G72.DEV_01D7.3 = "NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M "
NVIDIA_G72.DEV_01D7.7 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300"
NVIDIA_G72.DEV_01D8.2 = "NVIDIA Quadro NVS 120M"
NVIDIA_G72.DEV_01D8.4 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400"
NVIDIA_G72.DEV_01DC.4 = "NVIDIA Quadro FX 350M"

This is a requested release of some members over at NotebookForums.com. This is based on Dell's currently non-public 92.77 ForceWare driver. I have left the driver fairly unmodified, and as with the 93.81 release, the user can choose between the Tweaked (MobileForce Enhanced) and Untweaked (Stock) versions. The "Stock" version for this driver uses a COMPLETELY UNMODIFIED Dell INF, which is the one that comes with the driver. As mentioned above, the driver only supports a very limited Device ID list, so if you don't have one of the above mentioned Device ID's, this driver WILL NOT WORK!!! Have fun, and report back!!!

you are my f-ing hero man

for those of you not in the know these are the drivers that Djinn got and I hooked tony up with they are the best working for 7950's.

Great release. Thanks. I have a question though. After installing the tweaked version, when I look in the device manger for version it shows 6.14.10.9277. Shouldn't it show 9.2.7.7 as before installing these drivers it was showing 8.4.6.9 for 84.69 release.

I have NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX on M1710. Screen shot is attached for your reference.

UPDATE: Just now I checked the inf file and 6.14.10.9277 is the version mentioned there too.

what is the advantage of using these vs the other ones you just posted?

These are Dell certified drivers. As such all of the lid features and throttling features should be there and working. AKA, when you shut the lid of your notebook, the LCD will shut off.

... or not. I just ran the drivers through and the display won't shut off with the lid closed.. on top of that, the classic control panel is not there in these drivers, so you have to use the new crappy gui based control panel. Bummer.

I updated to these drivers after I saw this thread earlier.

I can confirm that my display doesn't shut off when closed either, although I can't say I ever tried that with my old drivers or would have even care since I always hibernate or shutdown anyway.

However the classic style nvidia panel works fine with these drivers, that's all I ever use. The first time you go to the advanced tab you have to choose just like every other driver.

Put a paypal button somewhere on your site and I'll send you a small "donation" - seriously

I'm not supposed to discuss that publicly, but PM's are a different story .

I can't for the life of me figure out why either. It's driving me insane... SERIOUSLY ...

some people were experiencing problems with the most recent nvidia drivers. bluescreens and what not.

what I found was that if I installed the dell drivers then the lastest from tony after 2 reboots and 2 bluescreens and a boot into safe mode they seemed to be ok.

Djinn contacted dell and got a link to a non published download for updated drivers. that seemed to work very well with the 7950

I contacted Tony and got him a link.

and he was really nice enough to hook us up.

just peeps helping peeps.

I wonder what I am doing wrong... I installed these multiple times with DCPro in between each. For some reason I cannot get the classic control panel in this set. This is all I can get...

I am trying the performance set... I will give the stock driver a try and see if its any different.

maybe I will not install these so fast after all... hmmmm...

Well the XG 93.81 would not install for me. I have installed these 92.77 fine and will test them later. With almost every driver above the 92's I keep getting a nv4_disp BSOD during setup or reboot. I have tried a number of drivers from versions 93, 96, 97. Many are those from laptopvideo2go with the modified .inf.

Even the previous XG 93.71 would not work.

The only ones above the 92 series that have worked are 95.97.

I have a 7900GTX by the way.

actually if you just installed the dell drivers then you can install the 93.71 what you have to do is install them get a bsod, boot into safe mode with vga support then reboot. and for some reason after a couple of boots it runs. I got bsods twice then got them up and running but I never checked scores so I am better off with these until i do some testing.

ok I just ran 3D06 basic and came out with a score of 5965 that was with my Processor running at 2.83 (it got a little toasty at one point 72c)

my vid card was running at 625\700 and hit 72c

temps were as reported by I8kfangui so that means they were a bit higher.

truth be told this is the first time I ran them. maybe someone with the same config laptop as me (points directly at DMA500) can test it with other drivers but same clocks and CPU settings.

5493-3dmark06-600/700-nv95.97
5461-3dmark06-600/700-XG92.77

Gotta see how these run in BF2142. Thx for the tip Bal about installing those other drivers.
