Hey guys,

Any of you guys with experience with both know of the difference between these two? Are speeds pretty much the same? Newegg sells the Toshiba drive for 150 bucks and I'm thinking of upgrading. TIA

toshiba has double the cache and is claimed to be a bit faster, which is why I got it instead of the hitachi/ibm.

Keep in mind you could be sacrificing more battery life with the toshiba

Yeah the Toshiba is the way to go. I actually was thinking of putting one in the Sony. That drive is pretty slow noticably over the 5400. Then Im going to buy a 2.5" case with FW/USB and use the 4200rpm stock drive as a small external for archiving and imaging.

Im pretty happy with the 5400rpm in the Dell.

Keep in mind you can now pick up the 60GB 7200 rpm model for 213 bucks at newegg.com
