That's not so great, is it? It is along the same lines as the battery life of the Z96J, though. hrm...

mselley, i have done some digging up the V1J with Yonah gets roughly 3 hours 30 minutes, while you state your Core 2 Duo V1JP only get 2 hours 20 minutes... that seems odd, i suggest you redo your test, also tell us exactly your settings, like screen brightness, power mode, tasks, wifi, bluetooth, USB devices...everything possible to figure out why your battery life is what it is.

Also, can i ask a question, does your Webcam on the V1J swivel? meaning it can turn around and look behind the laptop?

Thanks,

MysticGolem

There is definately something wrong, it does not take a couple of weeks to get 12% battery wear, within 4 months your battery would seem to have 100% wear and would be useless. Contact your reseller, and ASUS regarding this issue, this is not the first time an ASUS laptop has done this to batteries.

This can be a circutry problem or a battery problem or both, together make the problem worse.

On average peoples' battery wear should be 0.5%-1% per month, depending on usage, but generally that is how it is for all brands, unless something is going wrong, or the user abuses it for some reason.

Sometimes the battery wear level is displayed incorrectly by programs.

That's somewhat true, there's a huge thread in NBR regarding how good programs are at telling real numbers. The conclusions were pretty much all programs are correct, and can be easily backed up by a battery life test.

In the case of Mselley, 12% wear, on a new battery, this is bad, and needs to be replaced, then Mselley indicated the battery life to be 2:20, which is lower than usual, since most V1J get 3+ hours from what i've read.

It seems to be tacking on 5% per week, yikes!!! As you alraedy did, contact ASUS and your reseller and let them know about this problem.

Oh goody, more ASUS battery problems.

That's definitely not normal and as the rep from MilestonePC said, contact your reseller/ASUS.

the only thing they should need is the actual battery.
