Community Reps (Formerly Known As TM's) *Please Read*

Howdy folks,

Well you've spoken and we've been listening. The problem has often been that we, as staff, don't communicate back to you on the how/why of many things that go on around the site. And for this I know I speak for everyone in staff and management when I say we're sorry.

What we have done to help cut down on some of the obvious disconnect between members and staff and make the site's operation a more transparent entity is to create a unique user group called Trusted Members.

TM's will be responsible for communicating more directly with us staffers from what is really going on around the site from the member level. They are much more in tune with what is going on than many of us staffers will ever be given how much time we spend on the backend of operations and we hope to harness that influence to better communicate many of the initiatives we are working on going forward.

They will also be our first line of defense against many of the darker elements that can show themselves from time to time to do nothing but cause trouble.

TM's cannot edit posts or ban anyone so there can never be the accusations of 'Power Tripping', yet they have a direct line to any of the mods and admins of the forum and will be listened to very closely as they unfold their assessment of the goings on around the site and what actions they feel are justified.

The initial 5 Trusteds are going to be appointed by moderators and staff based on their length of membership, how active they are, how intelligently they can communicate and most importantly, how well respected they are amongst their peers (that would be all of you).

Those initial 5 TM's will then select another 5 without any staff interference whatsoever and that first 10 will be the core group of TM's.

At any point a TM can nominate a member to step up to the TM position to help out around the site.

Though we are targeting the initial TM's for some of the busier sections of the site, TM's will have full reign to work hand in hand in any forum on the site with the moderators and other TM's in those areas. Yet each TM will have a home base of sorts and will be expected to participate heavily in those forums.

Trusted Members can be identified by their Green name and their 'Trusted Member' profile description under their name.

Of course, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me in this thread or via PM.

So it is my great pleasure to announce the first few, of many to come, Trusted Members of Notebookforums:

1. Time-Pilot (Off Topic)
2. Hammerhead (Alienware)
3. pdonket (Dell)

These people represent what we feel a Trusted Member is all about. They are level headed, speak clearly, are knowledgeable and most importantly, are some of your favorite people.

I will update everyone as we fill the next few positions around the site but for now please join me in welcoming these people to their new position at Notebookforums and again, let me know if you have any questions.

The topic of this thread looks like only Trusted Members should read it. You should probably change it to something like "Trusted Members program *Please Read*", or as you have elsewhere, "Trusted Members *Everyone Please Read*"

yeah I know, I read 1000x more than I post as I feel that when I do post It should be of value. Im on here every day constantly (addict). easy work for me as I am a 34 yr old disabled IT and designer guru with nothing better to do (blown disks in my back, neck). I still volunteer anyways. I have been somewhat of a pioneer at times around here and I love workin with you all. And If you all really knew me and all my abilities (composer, engineer, etc)...

nonetheless, I would have had probably 10x the posts I have now if this TM idea was implemented a few years ago, cause this place, granted, did go a bit south there for a while, and I lost interest for a bit, but hey whadda ya do, its the internet. Just trying to offer some help to a place I know like the back of my hand.

cheers,
whack
