New BIOS 1104 for Z96J/S96J

Has anyone tried the "Official" BIOS 1104 for the Z96J/S96J? Does anyone know what is different compared to the "beta" 1101 that was released earlier? Wondering if its of any benefit to flash to the 1104 from my current 1101 (which is working great btw, thanks Ken!)

Thanks,
Zack

I just updated my bios on my Z96JS with the link you provided and it seemed to work fine. I have not noticed any differences yet, but it has only been about 15 minutes.

Can anyone tell me whether I should be using the 1104 BIOS for 945PM1 or for 945PM2 ?

Intel lists them both on their website but I don't know the difference.

I have a Z96Js with Merom

Thanks!

BIOS 1104 is what gets downloaded for both the 945PM1 and 945PM2. I have updated to 1104 and everything is fine. The quickboot option is removed is the only difference that I have been able to see.

Look here in the first post of the thread for a nero image of the 1104 bios.

or here for a *.ROM and nero image of the 1104 bios

Follow the instructions. Good Luck!

Be sure to thank Ken @ GenTechPC who has graciously provided .rom and nero images for these bios in one place!

I keep seeing this for S96J owners. Why will winflash not work for an S96J but seems to work fine for a Z96J?

Anyway. You can also do the update from a bootable flash/USB drive (I believe I used an HP USB formatting tool to make it bootable, its a free download). Copy the bios file (*.ROM) and Aflash2.exe from you driver cd to the bootable USB key/drive. Enter the bios menu and change the boot order to boot to usb first. (On my Z96J you can hit ESC during boot sequence and it will bring up a menu to select which device to boot from). You should get a prompt like A:\\. Type "run Aflash2.exe" and follow the directions in Aflash from there.

I have had success with 3 of the 4 methods (Nero CD image, Winflash, and bootable USB). I take no responsibility for any damage you may do to your machine if you do something incorrectly. If you are not sure about something ask.
