Great website for X1400 to 7900GS

I was just looking around for some evidence as many of you know about my predicament with Dell sticking me with a computer filled with x1400. So, I knew from the start I should start gathering evidence for my case. So I found this website Source 1
Source 2
Source 3
Source 4
Source 5

And It shows you all the proof you could ever need. If a mod could, I'll request it in TM forums as well, but if anyone sees this, I think a sticky would be great seeing how many people get replacements and are stuck with a x1400 replacing the 6800go.

enjoy guys!

Nice site and great sticky. This is a must have for some of the guys down at Dell, as I am thinking back to my replacement situation... I remember the phone call where a SUPERVISOR of all people told me it was SILLY to replace a 256MB X1400 with a 256MB 7900GS! He said "Why would you want to replace a 256 M. B. with another 256 M. B.? Emphasis on the fact he pronounced each letter individually M, B. lol. It all worked out in the end, but what an interesting fiasco...

im not sure Dell would like to hear "oh well, the 6800go overclocks much better ect. since they wouldn't support that lol, im just trying to provide strait facts that show..the x1400 is lesser in comparison to the 6800go

Hi,

what's happening here? Is this with a warranty repair you're getting an x1400 or is this a swap at ordering time for a new laptop?
The OP is giving a reference for people who had an Inspiron 9300 that originally came with the 6800go gfx card. If a 9300 is broken beyond repair by Dell, usually they will replace the system with a similar E1705/9400 via CompleteCare. Lately they have been replacing systems that had a 6800 in it with a 9400 that has an X1400 in it, thus being a major downgrade. The above website is just an easy guide to show Dell when they try to say the X1400 is just as good.

Yep... using overclocking as the reason is not going to win you points with most mfg's.

You'd be better off with hard facts +data showing at the stock speed one if better than the other.

Another idea would be to say you have stock in one company or another, refuse to support a competing product or say you work in a place that xyz is not allowed. (yes stuff like that happens so the above can be a reason... just throwing some ideas out)

Here's a page with the numbers, showing how cards rank:

This is a site I just found recently. it has a good comparison of the cards up to the 7950GTX & has a filter option as well.

It doesn't have the pretty graphs though...And somehow I think that is all some of the Dell reps can understand...

I'm outragged out how shitty the x1400 is. It was 100$ to upgrade from the integrated, and the performance is just terrible. Can someone explain to me why they are not offering the 6800 gos any more with the e1705s? Is it to save money or something? I can't possibly imagine x1400s going for any more then 10$ in bundles of a hundred or 1000.
they don't make them anymore. even though they are more powerful than the x1400 they are the previous generation of cards. That is why they offer the x1400 or the 7900GS.

Much appreciated. Although I was heart broken to have to "unmod" my 'ol 9300, the warranty was running out so you know... Used this page just today on my 9300 replacement and dealt with all kinds of crap at first. After showing this to a tier 2 tech (tier 1 had NO clue what I was talking about when I tried explaining 256mb shared and 256mb dedicated) I was able to get a case opened with my 7900 GS on the way Rep to you my friend!
