Hi, I just recently brought a refurbished xpsm1210 with 1gb of rap with the 5600 processor. However, iI had to settle for the integrated intel grapics card. I was wondering can I upgrade or am I stuck? Also tech support said it was upgradable but I just wanted to make sure from owners

The graphics card is integrated into the motherboard. The only way to switch from the Intel GMA to the 7400 would be to replace the motherboard, which I bet isn't cheap.

Thanks I thikn Im just going to calcel my order and get the E1505 instead.

You can't get an E1505 with Intel integrated and expect to upgrade either, motherboards on E1505's with Intel integrated are different from the ones with dedicated graphics. as of right now in Dell's current Laptops if you order a Laptop with Intel integrated you CANNOT UPGRADE without changing the motherboard.

Yah, I was planning on buying a new E1505 but idk I do like ths small M1210. It cost me like around 900 bucks, how are the integrated graphics...I won't be playing many hard core games, just swat delta force black hawk down and other stuff. Mostly taking notes, dling musi,c and watching dvd. The spec are...
T5600
12 inch screen no AV option
1GB,667 mhz memory
Intel Integ Accel Graphic card

Is that good enough?

Integrated graphics for the most part wont run games. Im not sure how demanding those games are, but im still willing to bet the GMA graphics wont cut it. They are more or less good for putting an image on a screen and movies.

Not true. The integrated graphics can cope well in games like the ones suggested, of course they would have to be set at lower resolutions or detail settings to get smooth gameplay. But really, if you are planning on playing some new games sometime in the future a computer with dedicated GPU is the only way to go.

I honestly cant speak for the m1210, but the GMA chipset on my 700m wouldnt run The Sims 2 at all low settings. A e1501 with the ATI onboard mobility chipset barely ran it at low settings. Like i said im not sure how old those games are or there demands, but i would say almost any game in the last 2-3 years wont be running well enough that youll actually want to play. Just my unscientific and unresearched speculation with semi-experience though. Take it as you will.

Either way, if the GMA chipset were to actually run it smoothly, it will still look like complete crap.

I think for the games the OP is playing, which are older titles. I don't think he'll have a problem with them, but don't hope to be playing Battlefield 2 or 2142 on an Intel GMA.

I thikn I might keep the 1210 then, probably the only games Ill be playing will be postal, GTA, and black hawk down. Mostly I will use it for school work and music.
