Inspiron 9300 vs. XPS 1210

Hi,
I am an owner of an Inspiron 9300 with 2.13GHz, 1GB Ram and GeForce 6800 card. I am considering upgrading to an XPS 1210 2.1 GHz, 2GB Ram, GeForce 7400 card. Will the XPS 1210 run games faster than the Inspiron 9300?
I see that 3dMark05 scores for the 9300 are higher than the 1210, which seems odd because the 1210 is newer and has better specs. How is this?

The XPS M1210 is the fastest 12" notebook but you can't compare it with your 17" 9300. the inspiron ist faster because of the go6800.

Oh, ok, so it's the video card that's holding it back. I thought the 7400 was better than the 6800, hence its higher number?

nope, don't we wish

7400 has only 128mb vram and some other downgrades.

Just 'cos the videocard has higher number does not mean it is better. The 6800 was top-of-the-line in the 6xxx series of cards.... however, in the newer 7xxx series of cards the 7400 is a low-end option. i9300 is a much better gamer, but at the moment the m1210 is by far the best 12" laptop for gaming.

These are 7400's specs- 4 pixel pipes, 3 vertex shaders 64mb vram

6800go specs- 12 pixel pipes, 5 vertex shaders, 256mb vram

as you can see, the numbers mean basically nothing here
