Ok, first of all, I know about http://emachines.fizi.ca/bios.php.
This is the issue. When I bought my Gateway 7410GX back in 2004 it came with the NS.00.05. Then, during the next months, I tried and changed the bios to the NSF04.P0 from the eMachines website, luckily I saved my original bios and change back to it, that means, my Notebook has been using NS.00.05 bios almost since I bought it.
Now, during the last few months, I have been updating few things in my Laptop, and for no real reason I change the bios again to the NSF04.P0, but this time I was careless and didn't save the original NS.00.05 bios.
Now I want to go back to the NS.00.05 bios, I miss the Gateway logo. Besides, I'm not sure but I think the NS.00.05 is newer that the NSF04.P0. So I tried the flash NS.00.05 bios from http://emachines.fizi.ca/bios.php, but Winphlash reports a successful re-flashing, but when I restart the Notebook, the NSF04.P0 is still there. I have tried the Winphlash versions 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 already.
When I tried to re-flash the bios using Winphlash using the NSF04.P0, the flashing takes a while and there is a progress bar that shows the progress and a counter that goes from 1/8 to 8/8, but when I try to flash the NS.00.05 from http://emachines.fizi.ca/bios.php, neither the progress bar nor the counter shows up. It just shows that the flash is completed in less that few seconds. I now know the problem is from the bios file, maybe is not fully compatible with my model. When comparing the NSF04.P0 with the NS.00.05, there are more bytes in the NS.00.05, maybe that is the reason I can flash the NSF04.P0 but no the NS.00.05.
Also, I can't re-flash the NS04.P0 from http://emachines.fizi.ca/bios.php dated 2004-08-11, the NS04.P0 I can re-flash is the one from emachines website, or the one shown in http://emachines.fizi.ca/bios.php dated 2005-04-04. Also here, the NS04.P0 dated 2004-08-11 is bigger than the NS04.P0 dated 2005-04-04 at http://emachines.fizi.ca/bios.php. I know the NS04.P0 dated 2005-04-04 comes in an executable, but when executing it, the files get decompress into the C:\Documents and Settings\...\Local Settings\Temp folder, there you can see the BIOS.ROM.
So basically, I will really appreciate if there is anyone that could please use Winphlash (with only the read bios option selected) to read their NS.00.05 (or newer) bios and share it with me (or anyone else interested). My Gateway is a 7410GX. My e-mail address is vrpirata@hotmail.com.
Thank you.
