Hi Folks,

I posted elsewhere but got little joy.

I want to copy my O.S and settings onto disc, so that if i mess up the hard drive later on, i can reinstall it to my preferred settings.

Help!

Also how do i use Acronis to copy OS back to original HD before i sell on my notebook.

Thanks,RD

Hi Richard.

You can use Acronis to make images of a hard drive as well as the OS. One thing with Windows is that if you drastically change the hardware it was installed on (mostly CPU and motherboard) it will refuse to run and require you to reactivate and reinstall, also, Windows adjusts itself to the system configuration it was installed on. This will happen if you install the image that you made on your current computer's hard drive and install it on the new one.

In your case, I recommend a utility of the many that exist that transfer Windows configurations from one machine to another. Also, Windows has its own wizard to migrate and transfer configurations from one system to another (then you can make the image for the new system with Acronis).
