i went fooling around and realized it charges when i press the charging pin down

I have a file that lists the field replaceable parts but does not show the power connector. You may need to put a new power connector on it if resoldering it did not help. I don't have the link but I remember googling the power connector and I believe there are sites that sell them. I can't see how to attached a file so PM me if you would like it. I sent you a PM also on my problem.

Sounds kinda like my problem. Only the battery light would flash about 8 times when I hit the power button. I guess that means dead battery.

I suspected it was a loose power connector as the plug wiggled a little more than I think it should. I took it apart and what do you know the power jack was splitting open. And the metal housing is broken on one side. I rigged up the hard drive and the button panel to the bare motherboard, stuck a book of checks under the power jack (to keep the board from flexing), plugged it in, pressed on the jack, pressed the power button and voilĂ ! It powers on!

I Google'd and eBay'd around and found DCPowerJacks.net is the place.
