New Dell M1210 Logitech drivers out (10.4.0 for Vista and XP)

post #1 of 6
Thread Starter
FYI Dell just released their new Logitech Drivers for Vista and XP. Found it this morning while trying to fix a problem with the blank screen. It might fix the STPD.sys freezing problem, I haven't tried it.

Hope this is a help to someone else. Find it on their support/downloads site.

I tried it hoping that it would fix the AEC (echo suppression) bug, but it still there. If you enable AEC, your hardware accelleration for your sound card drops to 1/4 instead of full.

It does have a flashier Vista-ish control panel now, which is nice for some. Some fixes mentioned on the dell site include:

Enhancement:
===========
1. Compatibility improvement for Dell printers.
2. Function correction for Windows Movie Players file format(wmv).
3. Power management enhancement for low power state.
4. User interface enhancement.

Perhaps the power management feature will keep the camera a bit cooler.

i upgraded and now the camera button no longer loads QuickCapture (or anything for that matter). did anyone else experience the same thing? any known fixes?

edit: nm... i just had to reboot a second time. i like the new interface a lot!

Well that is good news. I am always happy when updates fix people's problems--even if they are not the same as the one's I have. I can certainly live without AEC, but I was hoping it would address it.

Since I upgraded to the new Logitech driver, I'm finding that my screen doesn't go off for power saving purposes. I normally have it set to shut off after ~15 minutes, but it seems to stay on all the time. When I set it to shut off after 1 minute, it does.

Also, does anyone else think the camera is warmer while completely off after the update?

Thanks for your feedback.
