BIOS HDD setting..

In the BIOS there is a setting for the HDD to set it at "performance" "quiet" and something else... if you set it on performance other than it loading things louder does it actually do anything faster?

Yes, in fact it is an increase in performance, how noticeable? I don't think by a whole lot. I beleive that quiet mode just smooths out the transistions of the read/write heads whereas performance mode does it as fast as is physically possible.

hmm... i'll have to time the boot up with it on and again with it off and see how noticable it is...

do you think the "performance" setting would add extra heat?
