Bought my dv9000t! Expected ship date possibly wrong? Please Look

Here is what I ended up with.... Chose the low capacity harddrive because I can add another... I'm right about that, correct?:

HP Pavilion dv9000t customizable Notebook PC

* FREE Upgrade to Genuine Windows XP Media Center!!
* Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.0 GHz)
* 17.0" WSXGA+ BrightView Widescreen (1680x1050)
* 512MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600
* FREE Upgrade: HP Imprint Finish/Microphone/Webcam
* 2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
* 80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
* Super Multi 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
* Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth
* No TV Tuner w/remote control
* High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
* Microsoft(R) Works/Money
* HP Mobile Remote Control
* HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

However, estimated ship date is Jan. 2 ... Is there any possibility it will ship prior to that date? I'm assuming it will ship out sooner, so it's going to my parent's house where I'll be for vacation. Will I be able to change the shipping address if it takes the estimated amount of time?

Thanks guys

.

1: It might ship before that date by a few days, but then again consider the time of year....

2: Change the shipping address? Unlikely... but you could try..

3: You should read thru thread thread on issues that you should consider before from buying from xyz vendor.

PS: The info applies to other brands as well..

1: Hope you get a "good" one, otherwise you may regret that statement. To each his own. 2: BTW ...Curious... Did you read thru that entire thread?... or just the first post? There's alot of good info in that thread, not just buying advice. .

well as it turns out, my mom is a costco member.... Can I cancel my order this early with HP? If so I would love to have the lower price and better return policy offered by costco. Also, according to certain things that you've posted they ship notebooks out quicker, is that true?

Thanks for all the help and replies

Did a quick search via Google... on the UK site it says http://h41306.www4.hp.com/info?p=122...g_and_ordering

(US site should be something along the same lines, the UK was the first site that came up with the info, that's why I posted the above for those that are going to come back and say the Op is in the Us, etc.) From posters here on this board you can refuse shipment, or sent it back with 21-days. (7/14 days? in the Asia Market) Note that when you call HP, the rep may offer you a deal to keep the unit... On Costco shipping "quicker", NO... the units come from the same factory HP orders go to and if anything during "peak" times you can pretty much bet that orders place thru Costco, BestBuy,CC, Office Depot, etc are going to be pushed back until HP gets their units first.... To get a ballpark on delivery time go to Costco, see what the eta is then fiqure maybe 2-3 days off the ship date having the unit in your hands... but keep in mind this time of year that fiqure (2-3 days) may be totally off. .

Hey WeAreNotAlone, sorry to go off topic, but this part of your post iss full of it:
"Inferior Analog

With due respect to the common analog transmission technologies (VGA, XGA, SVGA, UXGA), DVI is generally considered to be the better transmitter primarily because analog is sensitive to the phase changes of cable. Simply stated, the analog picture cannot be reproduced as accurately as the digital one, particularly at distances. The same goes for component video, another analog format that is limited to a bandwidth that transmits resolutions up to 480P. Analog cables are also generally more intolerant to environmental conditions and can add “noise” among other anomalies."

Component cables will do 1080p out to 200+ feet, hdmi and dvi max at 50 feet unless you get special optical cables for $$$. The rest of the info is misleading at best, there is no reason analog can't look as good as digital and will usually work for greater distances...

Oops, I forgot to put the on topic part, I have a dv6000z on order and it is supposed to ship Jan. 2nd as well. Looks like we are stuck with that.

I was just trying to correct some misinformation without having to go join another forum. Check with any other source and they will say component cables can do 1080p, saying they can only do 480p is farsical and makes your souce completely untrustworthy, it's a business for crying out loud, they never lie...

Hey I understand what you're saying, I was talking about going back to the author of that info saying hey, ran across your site, you've got some incorrect info on there, instead of joining another forum. I was talking about getting the info corrected, or find some better sources and I will be happy to edit the post on that other forum. I'll try to get over there and edit it if time permits. Component cables indeed can do more that 480p... Maybe a typo or something. Post on other board has been edited to reflect that. One thing I do know that is every time you do a conversion of analog signal there's a good chance something is lost.... and from my personal experiance less interferance if using a straight digital connection. For example on the monitor I'm typing on now I was getting interferance, until I swtiched to a DVI connection. (my computer room, and house has enough stuff in it that it's like the bridge on StarTrek... YMMV of course. PS: Funny you should pick this issue as a issue,... What about the other tips in the thread? .

My order is in production now, does anyone know how long it will take to be built and ready to ship from this status?

I ordered a unit thru COSTCO the 3rd, it shipped the 7th, on a FRIDAY being picked up at 3:54pm (after the Fed-Ex cut-off for that day)... and it arrived East Coast USA the 10th, by 8:30am.

Of course at this time of year YMMV.

Alright cool , my order is pretty basic so I really think that they would've all the parts to make it and ship it fast.

Just ordered my HP dv2000t Sat 12/16 10:15pm PST. Expected delivery date is Jan 1. Anyone have any idea when I should receive mine??
post #19 of 31
GOD_OF_WAR,

No one really knows for sure...

PS: Answer to your question has been answered above.
In a nutshell considering the time of year, that Jan 1 date might be pretty close...
