Well i was just wondering, i assume some of us are, do u think that the area 51m 7700 will be given a new motherboard and be able to support dual core cpus. Or is the the end of the area 51m 7700 line? I certainly hope not i brought this laptop with the intention to upgrade to future processors( hope this will be possible)
What do u guys think

Considering the fact that the 7700 has been taken off the configurator, I'd reckon that it has been discontinued.

i just looked at the configurations and the area 51m 7700 nor the auroa is not on there, i am so disappointed i thought my laptop would live on at least for a little longer, i just brought it last year. Guess i just have to go the desktop way if i want upgradability(even though i thought the 7700 would be ) but such is life

I have the 7700, and frankly, I see why they killed it.
The 7700 was very poorly designed for the heat dissipation required for Pentium 4's or go7xxx video cards let alone both in the same machine. Something like the final battle of Doom3: ROE has my system on the verge of melting, not to mention every part of Prey. I hear the 5750 is much better built in terms of ventilation, not to mention the cooler running dual core chips used in the 5750. Good riddance to the 7700, long live the 5750.
And please AW, put a better vid card in the 5750 so that I can give you money by buying one!

My Alienware Support means... the 7700 is running out. The Pentium 3,8 is the last Core for this big thing. And the 7900GTX the last GPU for this Monster. The newer Direct X10 Cards need a newer ?Card location?
He think this is the End... Here in Germnay we cant buy a new 7700...

everything i have seen says the 7700 is now gone. the chassis it is based on is also being discontinued so that is likely the reason...

when the 7700 first came into the world it was a BEAST
now it's just history.
anyway
the endline for it is
P4 3.8Ghz 2MB {known as 670}
GeForce go 7900GTX 512Mb
3GB Ram 533Mhz { more than that is useless }

so i think it will be usefull for more time unless they start making DuaCore mandatory to run programs

Well, Im going to keep this "beast" running as long as I can, when was the first year they made them?

AW never offered the 512Mb version in the 7700, (which is one of my gripes) although other resellers of this chassis have.

I've just noticed on the UK site, the configurator for the ALX is offering the 7900gtx 512mb (x2 in SLi). Previously I've not seen it offered in any AW laptops so; hopefully, that means the card will be available to buy for upgrade now!

Oh, they've had those available in the ALX for about 3 months now.
But, as I said, never in the 7700.
