I know there are a lot of voodoopc bashers here who don't want to pay $3k+ for a notebook, but Voodoo has a new notebook out today. It is the Envy m:860. Some specs:

15.4" wxga+ (1680x1050) widescreen
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 128mb
3 speakers
2 hours+ battery life
8 pounds
14"(W) X 10.4"(D) X 1.7"(H)
Price is ~ $3200 - $5000 US

It is here:

Woo...another Athlon 64 laptop...

I wonder how long it will take us this time to find out who the ODM is...

EDIT: Just noticed...this is a M11 laptop! I guess it will be a while before we will know the true background for this one...

A64s with Radeon 9700s! I wonder if Athlon is the new king of the hill... Pentiums everywhere should bow down in humble reverence.

I think it is the same chassis as the emachines m6805 / m6807

I configured this notebook it will cost me around $13,663.59 with all the upgrades. What fun it is to see how much I can spend on a notebook.

Perhaps it is the same chassis as the Emachines 6807, in which case it would be the Arima W720.

The pics aren't the best but if you look at the photos of the back of the notebook, they seem to be identical. (Near the bottom on the voodoo page, and click on photo gallery on the emachine page.)

You are right.

Most likely the m:860 is indeed a newer generation of Arima W720.
This is good news, as eMachines have said that they are releasing a new notebook in one month or so. This could possibly be the new eMachines.

Sweet, wish I had the luxury of not needing battery life. Hopefully cyberpower will carry these also.

They have a 2+ hour battery life, this is a Athlon 64, not a P4 mang.

A very nice rig there from Voodoo. Yeah, it's overpriced, but this is voodoo we are talking about! If the darn thing offered dual batt support (and was about a grand cheaper) it would have given my recently ordered nc8000 a run for its money as far as which one I would rather have. I do hope emachines brings this on as their next laptop.

Nice looking laptop. Bit thick, but quite nice. This will be one hell of a games machine. Also, laptops with the AMD 64 will have a great resale value in 12-18 months when 64 bit XP is available.

Shame I live in the UK. Not going to spend $200 dollars extra shipping for a laptop with an invalid warrantly. Fingers crossed someone like SavRow in the UK will start making one...

It's based on: Arima's W730D-K8

Cool thanks for the update.

btw: thanks for your continueing efforts to support this niche market.

You might want to hold off on the Voodoo. In another thread, http://notebookforums.com/showthread...highlight=6807, I could not find availability of the 6807 and someone else emailed eMachine and got a reply indicating that something was on the way. Maybe this is the "something" and eMachinces would be a helluvalot cheaper than Voodoo.

Hurry up and ebay those 6807/6805 while demand is high.

Hmm...was the W730 released about the same time as the W720? Or was it newly released to accomodate the M11?
Found this article: http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/Ar...ages=A7&seq=43

Seems that the W730 was planned a while ago, albeit with a M10P-CSP128 instead of a M11. Did anyone ever release a W730+M10 based laptop? Or is the Voodoo the first laptop based on the W730?

Darn!! This VoodooPC A64 laptop looks great EXCEPT I would want it just like the Sager 8790 except w/ the A64 inside. So, I wish it were a 17"inch, full scale, DDR400, DVI. Is it even capable of a 12cell battery??

Agghhh! Too bad it just isnt like the Sager 8790 with an A64, then I would REALLY be interested.

Anyone know of any plans of something similar to a 8790 (or better) but has the A64? Thanks!
