I talked to a rep at Pelican last week about their cases. The 1490CC and other 1490 cases DO NOT fit the 5660 or the 8887 Sagers. I was told that the width of their cases is slightly too small. Their next case up is the 1500 and 1520 which are very bulky and awkward.
I just ordered a Seahorse 710CC Computer Case made of the same materials as the Pelican. This case has non-corrosive hinge pins (better than the Pelican) and has compartments for AC adapter, cables, hard drive, disks, etc. under the laptop. Keyed locks are either metal or plastic or none. A padlock can be added. A strap for the case is included and the laptop can also be straped down. I got the gun metal gray case and it should arrive by the middle of next week. For extra protection you can get the case in ABS (more expensive) which is 3 times stronger than the excellent poly case. ABS is probably overkill and is used by the Police and Military. for pictures and more info. Warning: This is expensive (approximately $165 plus shipping) but if you travel a lot or are particularily clumsy like me then this is a necessity and better than insurance. Hope this helps. Search for Seahorse cases for more places to buy. I liked this Michael fellow (he is a plastics engineer) and seemed very competent (not a real sales type).
