Ok sorry to bug everyone here but my sister wants a new laptop for her Christmas so i have to find her a good (cheap) one lol... Ok i have opted for the IBM T40 Thinkpad- from ebay link here though am not sure if ebay links are liked on this forum? 
anyway i am new to IBM- few friends with them and as far as i am aware they are good, reliable laptops with not too much flashy rubbish that jacks up the price? well not here at least lol- i just want the bare essentials for her to use at uni- she doesn't want "too much money spent on it..." 
lol it's for uni so light, good battery and reliable are the essentials.. What i wanted to ask is:
1- What is the max RAM i can upgrade this model to?- she sometimes uses photo shop CS2- which i BELIEVE requires 384mb... but more would always be better lol.
2- What is a rough battery life, and can i improve this in any way- i read somewhere that you can get a second battery for the optical bay? is this right or is it an older model?
Have tried to find this all out for myself but can't sift through all the waffle on google so was hoping someone here might have some first hand knowledge...?
I have seen a few pics with an IBM laptop with a battery STICKING out of the back by a bit and this pic always seems to accompany a much larger than usual battery life- does the bigger batter sticking out the back mean longer life- i mean will a 9 cell stick out more than a 6cell and give a longer battery life?
