Was installing PClinuxos but didnt work so I installed trial of Xandros

Well I tried my best to install Pclinuxos but it was crashing after it did the partitions for me. I tried everything I could think of with no luck. Then when I booted up and my windows partition didnt boot up . So I had a copy of Xandros to try so I said what the heck lets try this baby. Its only a 30 day trial, and boy was I suprised with it. It installed without a glitch and the interface is pretty simple. I am still learning it but what really suprised me was the wireless network support on that OS. Under the network tabs, you have a ndiswrapper icon to click on and tell it where your windows driver are and boom Wifi working within a minute. It also has a cool build in WIfi interface with wireless networks and you get an actual antena readings bottom right corner. No matter what I tried, I never got the gnome wireless manager to work in Ubuntu. I spend 1 whole day without sucess. So this has been the coolest feature I have seen. It does have it's draw backs, the main one its not free. Software wise I still havent been to able to find instructions on how to install Wine on it. In Ubuntu, wine was so easy to install but in Xandros still no luck ... So if anyone knows of anything on installing Wine in Xandros please let me know. I also need to debate what linux distro to use. I still have not tried kubuntu and maybe I might be able to get the wireless manager to work under KDS instead of gnome. Any advice from the linux experts here will greatly be appretiated. Thanks guys..

xandros just makes me wanna kill a cute puppy.... kinda sucks that pclinuxos didn't work out for you beause i am currently having a blast with it (it even configured the forward and back mouse buttons...something that i have failed to do on any other distro). i guess the only "bad thing" is its xorg 6.9 so no beryl ... oh well.

that said... here are a few other (non-ubuntu-esque) options:
--- Sabayon -- based of Gentoo, can be tricky but pretty snazzy when it works
--- Mepis -- based of Kubuntu now... suffers a severe memory leak though (KDE related i think)
--- grml -- actually quite a minimalistic (desktop wise) OS, but based of debian, comes with some neat features and a slay-load of hacking tools
--- Kanotix -- knoppix based KDE-centric distro thats actually pretty good...but has an uncertain future... sadly...
