Upgrading the Processor in my E1505

Thread Starter
I recently bought a used E1505 off someone and am looking to upgrade the processor. It currently has a T2400 Intel Core Duo 1.83 GHZ processor and I want to upgrade it to a T7200 Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHZ processor. My question is will I have problems with the cooling system that came with the T2400 chip? Will I need to get a new cooling system? Also can I just swap the chips or do I need to upgrade the BIOS in order to have the computer recognize the new chip? Will I see a big difference between the chips as far as performance? Also is there a good program that will allow me to monitor the temp of my CPU and GPU and what is a good temp to keep them at? The computer came with the 256 ATI X1400 video card. Thanks for you help.

Yes, your system will cool the T7200 just fine. I would upgrade to the latest BIOS before installing the new CPU.

I8kFangui to report temps - Or Notebook hardware control.

You will not see a big difference between a T2400 coreduo and a T7200 C2D -

I have the same laptop, what is the best CPU upgrade at this point. I cant believe your saying the T7200 will not be much difference, seems like it be significantly faster.

The transition performance will be minimal id be hard pressed if you could tell me that you would be able to notice the difference when it came to real life performance. I swtiched from a T2400 to a T7200 and I could honestly say the difference was so small but my upgrade was free on DELL's part so...
