I just received my new Sager 5460v today.

If anyone is thinking of buying one just respond here with any Q you might have about it and I will do my best to answer them.
When I was researching no one responded to my Q about this machine so I figure no one else owns one.

Hey man I got lots of questions for you! How is hte build quality? How hot does it run? How quiet is it? How heavy is it? Is there any light leakage o nthe screen? What about dead pixels? What about the speed o nthat machine? Did you get teh extended service warranty from Sager? I am really wanting to get a Sager this time so please go ahead and give us an honest review of the system! Congrats on your new baby!

Hi Suryad,
Builds quality is very good, typical Sager.
Screen is very good, no dead pixels, no light leakage best I can tell with an all black screen.
Yes I got 3 yr warranty mainly cause I wanted free shipping both ways butthere was a addendum in the 1 yr warranty paperwork it came with saying Sager will pay for shipping both ways with the 1yr policy after 1 Dec 06.
Sound is Ok for a laptop but volume could stand to go higher. Some Harmon Kardon speakers like on Toshibas would probably sound a little richer and louder.Fan is reasonably quiet. RH palm rest is warm as that is where the HDD is, warmer than LH side.
Not hot at all just warm. The Sager 9880 was alot warmer in palm rest over the GPU.
This Sager from PCT was a cheaper price than from other Clevo resellers and cheaper than Dell 1405 or HP DV2000T with same component specs.
Any other Q just ask.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply mate. I am looking to get a Sager but I might have to wait for a bit and wait for the tax rebates and so on. My Dell XPS Gen 1 is then gonna go to my laptop who is just going to use it for surfing, writiner papers, checking email etc etc. I think I might just wait till the Santa Rosa platform is out with a gig of Robson cache and the uprated Merom core all supposed to be out in Q2 2k7. Thanks for the info though. I am not gonna look any further than a Sager then.

I've been having the same difficulty finding reviews on this model. It looks like a good buy, but I'd like to get opinions before buying (Kudos for taking the plunge). Having owned the computer for a little while, have you developed any complaints? How's the touchpad?

Touchpad is OK but I normally use a mouse.

Fan is running ALL the time from startup to shutdown. Not super loud like in the 98XX series when they cranked up but u can hear it. It is probably the same in every notebook.
Everthing else so far has been good and works fine.. It had better stay that way.

Congragulations on your new purchase and welcome to the Sager family. There may be some FN + (key) combos to press to enable or disable the throttling on your cooling fans. That is exactly the case on my 5760. There should be references to that in your laptop user's manual. Good luck with your new baby!
