Atheros 5006EX Will not connect!

Most of you know me and my abilities, well I ran into one I am having trouble with ( ). I got an Atheros card from Garagesale and it was bluescreening so he sent me a new one. This one will not connect to my AP at all. It sees it, It installs, It goes through all the motions, I can configure it in Device Manager, but will not fully connect. The icon hangs with the dots moving underneath. Used every driver on the planet too including the new recent release. Put my intel back in and here I am.

I think the card could be faulty. Anyone have any tricks? I want to get this working because the range on this and the first card was unbelievable for a "G" card.

Have you tried decreasing the power output of the card in Profile Management?

hee hee.... no... I jacked it up. I will try that.

And I asked myself your question and no windows vista edition is right for me. Not for at least 6 mos after release. That's my unofficial rule to me and my clients.

cheers,
whack

I always wait until at least the first Service Pack is released before recommending a Microsoft operating system upgrade.

Vista or XP? While under XP you should try deactivating the Super-A/G Option in Your wireless profile in the Atheros Client Tool. If you have Vista, I don't know how to get the AR5006EX to connect. I have the same problem....

Hi Whackamac,

Did the second card fixed the bluescreen problem? Cause I ran into the same problem.
Are your problems with the second card allready solved, and if so; how?

Thanks

I am facing the same problem...I bought a laptop running vista with wireless atheros AR5006x card, but even finding the wireless networks available I cannot connect "due to an unknown reason" according to Window Vista... When I installed XP it worked fine, but I need to make it work under Vista and it's clear that there is a driver problem...

I searched everywhere but I am running out of hope...
Anyone have any idea????

I have been working with garagesale for some time. I got a atheros AR5006EX (advertised) card from him. It arrived with no badging, FCC#, or anything that states what and where it is from. The card bluescreened my computer hard so I returned it to him and got another card with the same problem as whackamac.

I searched deep and hard on the internet for potential fixes and kept in contact with GS during the process. Long story short... THESE CARDS ARE CRAP! GarageSale emailed me 3 days ago and blamed the whole problem with his chinese sweatshop made cards on me?!?!?!?!!!!! because I could not fix the problem with HIS cards and the rumor was getting around that his cards are bunk. Then he sent me quite the nasty email the other day:

AS QUOTED FROM GARAGESALE'S EMAIL:
You f****** a******! cheated my card and never helped to resolve the
problem. Have a messed up life.

I never sent back the second card to him cause I am tired of playing with defective equipment and just cut the loss and stopped communications. I am considering reporting him to ebay and the authorities seeing there are at least 2 dozen people stuck with these defective cards. I bet they are the rejects from the Gigabyte line....

I would DEFINATELY NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM GARAGESALE. I FOUND THE PARTS ARE ILLEGAL TO POSESS IN THE US DUE TO LACK OF FCC CERTIFICATION!!!

Be careful guys and buy a Gigabyte Atheros card. Those at least work.

Hey whackamac,

Can you send me a private message? You can't accept messages and I wanted to ask you a question.
