Does this new OS support SATA drives or do you still have to install the drivers manually???

As for as I know Vista doesn't support SATA RAID out of the box, you still need the drivers, I have the Beta RC1 and RC2 and it didn't work for me on a Desktop System I built,The drivers load correctly and the setup is able to go forward until the reboot, then I get the standard BSOD. may have been the VIA chipset and Nforce drivers? I'm sure there is a workaround to this problem that I had, but, I never found one, so I just give up and installed XP Don't know if this was corrected in the Vista RTM, but, if you buy an OEM (PC/Desktop/Notebook that has a SATA Drive and Ships with Vista) then I'm sure it will work, don't think they would sell it if it didn't...............

Well GOOD LUCK , Vista won't be out untill Jan 30th 2007, you can get it sooner if you have a OEM upgrade coupon, if not, you'er gonna have to wait, just like everyone else, you would be better off just sticking with XP at least for now

You see to load any other version of XP on my new lappy requires an external floppy for the SATA drive to be recognized... I tried using a usb flash drive, but again no luck, as on the install it is not recognized... So I am wondering if I need to purchase an external floppy just to be able to install Vista once the upgrade arrives...

Purchase an external floppy ,they are inexpensive, and can be used for many other things as well, I have one..........

Actually I "loaded" RC1 ,without needing a "floppy", but because of Gateway's (Prioritized...) drivers my install looked like "crap".... No Aero w/a rating of 1.0 ... Thanks... Gateway for that BIOS update.... But my "outdated" Dell looks "GREAT"...
