While no laptop with this generator is available yet, that hasn't stopped new startup Potenco from commercializing

Lol, imagine pulling a string frantically in the middle game-play. I hope it's not as hard to pull as some lawn mowers.

that looks like a ridiculously dumb idea in terms of a laptop.....I guess for some ppl it could work, but otherwise it seems stupid

lol thought this was a thread by someone asking which to get... was gonna say "are you crazy its winter dont get a lawnmower!"

OLPC is a pretty cool project. nice to see it coming together

LOL I can see myself now at the local Starbucks with pull string in hand frantically pulling on the string to power up my Sager and spilling my Holiday Peppermint Mocha all over the poor lady sitting at the next table. I will have to purchase one just for the novelty of it all.

NO! Thou shalt NOT spill thy Mocha!!

/sends son off to Starbucks for first of the day

Pretty interesting concept kinda like kinetic powered quartz watches.....just think you could charge your lappie with every motion of the mouse, or better yet when you throw the mouse across the room because you just got smushed by a guy in a tank....hmm interesting.

Well, I can see the MODERATE usefulness of this product. Say you are stuck int he middle of the woods, and for some reason need to look at some prawn
I suppose it is no sillier than the flashlights you have to shake to make work.

Ok there we go. How about instead of an extra gadget to have sitting there we could just shake the laptop for more juice LOL. That would be funny at a LAN or in the coffee shop seeing everybody getting up and shaking their systems with great ferocity every 40 minutes hehe.

lol, maybe thats the game itself, "who can keep their laptop powered longest?"

With my usual luck I would be in the middle of my first ever actual frag streak without getting taken out myself (like that ever happens) and would be getting ready to break some record and then "BEEP BEEP BEEP" power level low audible starts chirping. So there I am standing up and turning all red trying to dance around in the map with guns blazing all out of control and my in game character contorting like they are in seizure because I am a shakin' away on the lappie. On second thought I think I will stick with my AC adapter and keep myself, my lappie, bystanders, the coffee shop and my holiday peppermint mocha nice and safe.
lol, yeah my "frag streaks" just never happen lol, so of course if i'm about to be killed I just go hide in a dark bushy corner while shaking frantically..but I'm with you anyway in terms of AC power adapter.

LOL this is a little off topic for this thread but back in the days I played Team Fortress Classic on the Half-life engine and I would always play as the engineer. If I was about to bite the dust I would equip one of my EMP grenades and go running into a blazing and glorious end. Run at em full throttle and flip the pin and become a running bomb homing in on the nearest target hehe. That was always good for a few takedowns

lol suicidal maniac. Recently, I don't have many games I can do suicide in that I play, I play CoD2 mostly right now and occasionally I run like a psycho with a nade pulled and throw it at my feet as I'm on my way to dead lol.
LOL there can be no such thing as psycho in virtual warfare! The more craziness the better
post #17 of 22
lol, yeah you're right...especially since death is a common occurrence in them anyway
post #18 of 22
Every 5 seconds lol, GIBs galore hehe

solar power laptop? have a solar panel on the top of the lid.... you are f00ked @ night but hey, you should be sleeping anyway, not watching pr0n.

I really like the shaker idea. Since OLPCs are SSD not like you can damage stuff by shaking.
