Hi all,

What are the games that can run seamlessly on a mid range laptop with X1100 to X1400 or go 7200 or go 7400 ???

Plz chip in with ur personal xperience..

I am using 6600 gt on a desktop....so plz use that as a benchmark

Geforce 6600GT is same as mine desktop ATI X700 performance, on laptop if you a serious gamer, get 7800 least for good performance, and Geforce 7 series it supports Shader 3.0 while 6600 only use Shader 2.0a.

I rekon you wait for DX10 out then 7800GTX price will drop.

Don't the go 7200 and 7400 belong to 7 series???

7200, 7300, 7400 are Geforce 7.. but is low ended series... BAAAAAAAAAD FPS for latest games and later upcoming games .. you sure you want to play Battlefield 2416(Whatever year) for example for 15 FPS? xD

while i have no personal experience with those particular cards, given my 700m with integrated graphics can handle certain games, i'd guess any dedicated card could to just as well or better...

starcraft, worms armageddon, rise of nations, um... delta force... rollercoaster tycoon, diablo 2... um, prolly some more games, but these are the ancient games that can play on basically anything...

The GeForce Go 6600 supports SM3

Classy, you should be able to play any game seamlessly that was released in 2004 or earlier. You'll also be able to play most newer games at medium settings, although some of the newer more intensive games, such as fear or elder scrolls oblivion, may not be able to run well. Performance would be a bit less than your 6600, but you wouldn't be taking a huge hit.

Hi all,

Thanks for your Valuable Input....
Another concern is regarding upgradability.......I came across a HP notebook, which boasted of Express card slot

" Advanced PC card slot: This notebook supports ExpressCard, an emerging standard in smaller, faster PC card solutions. Use the card slot to add memory, graphics upgrades, security devices and more."

Is that the same as PCI express slot???
Does that mean that I can upgrade the Graphics by adding a GPU later on?????

Your comments plz

ExpressCard is in place of PCMCIA. Right now, there are still a lot more PCMCIA adapters than ExpressCard, but we'll see if they catch on more in the future. It does NOT allow you to upgrade graphics. Other than notebooks utilizing the relatively short-lived MXM experiment, graphics upgrades on notebook computers are not possible.

mxm is not short lived, it's just that the laptops that actually use that technology are rare and to make use of mxm isn't always cost effective as mobile video cards cost quite a bit more than their desktop counterparts.

anyways

i don't think you'll be able to upgrade your video card in your HP

could you list your price range?
you could get the dell e1705 with the 7900gs for under $1600 with coupons
and the asus a8jp sells for $1300 on newegg, it comes with the ati x1700
