Hey sup guys..I got a Dell Inspiron 9200 Notebook for $70...I haven't been able to turn it on when I got it because the notebook power adapter has a tear in the wire and doesn't work...I guess the notebook is supposed to be a good one...I was looking at the parts it had in it online and they look alright.....I was wondering if you guys can let me know if its good or not..I was going to maybe throw in 1 more GB of ram..Post in here and let me know and tell me what I can do to hook it up when I get the power adapter for it..Thanks to anyone who posts and doesn't flame..If you guys can interpret the parts list a little for me then I would know..Thanks again

7200rpm, it's a fast one. Great system for $70! It's no beast but for that price I wouldn't complain.

Yeah the harddrive alone has a $100+ Resale value on it if you wanted to scrap the system you could make quite a bit of change considering how much a motherboard or LCD would go for. Although in your position in my shoes id say get a new adapter and a stick of 1GB ram to make the kitten pur.

I have the 1.8ghz version of that processor in my 600m and I must say it's pretty quick. It is just as quick if not quicker than my P4 in my desktop. Definitely a good processor. Congrats on the awesome deal you scored!!

Get a NEC 6650 DVD burner off Ebay, and slide it in!
I love my 9200. 1.8GH Dothan, NEC DVD burner, 2GB RAM. Does everything I need and most of the "discount rack" games, too. (ATI 9700 M GPU. -At one time, everyone on this board thought that was the greatest GPU ever made, -for about two weeks. )

You could get an internal burner from newegg or ebay. Then you would not have to worry about luging around another peice of equipment with you at all times.

I payed 100 bucks on Ebay for my NEC DVD burner at Christmas last year.
I'll bet you can get one (new) for around 70 + S&H.
Pugsly is right. It's a big book; You don't wanna carry extra crap you don't need.

I recently bought a 9 cell battery (the bigger capacity of two sizes offered).
I get just about 3 hours of "soft" use, at least 1:45 of DVD, and 1:30 for gaming with the GPU set to hi performance via the drivers.
Hi cap. battery runs about 60 buck + S&H on Ebay. (Buy this from someone reputable.)

I must say, you got a "steal" for that price, as it was between 1100 and 1500 new, not including extended warranty.
(Please tell us it's NOT a ..."steal"?)
-And if it's not stolen, that begs the next question; why so cheap? I'll be interested to see what happens when you boot her up. I hope everything's cool, but if it isn't, I've seen (supposedly new) mobos on Ebay for under $250.

If it works after replacing the P/S, create an online account at Dell and then have him do an ownership transfer. It'll make things a bit easier if you have to buy from Dell Spare Parts - to have the Service Tag in your name.

it is quite easy, you just need to take it slow. i can send you the wire if you need it, just pay for postage. you have a 1.6 Dothan 400 fsb, so ya this pin mod doesn't require anything but a pin wire http://www.notebookforums.com/thread80879.html here is the thread i used, all the info is there. a few tools and some preparation beforehand and you are golden! my brother and i did both our machines on the same day no problem, and we didn't have a clue what we are doing before we read that thread. you will bump your cpu speed to 2.13 ghz, and it is not something that will damage anything, it is just changing the clock speed to 533 fsb.
