Yeah, it happened to me once with Dirt, which drags a lot of power.
It never happened in other games.
Take note that having external USB hardware like hard drives or colling stations drag power too.

Okay, I read all 1044 posts, which has me more confused than when I started. Latencies, biosses, clocks and timmings have me thinking this is some kinky cult. I'm a roxorazxx noobian. anyways, all u 7eet peep5 pl5 h3lp:

I have an E1705 w/XP Pro, and I have just acquired a 7900GTX and 130w Power adapter to upgrade.

1. What do I need to do driver/bios-wise? I know it's got to be an easy answer at this point, 8 months after the bios was unlocked.

1a. Is Juan's bios flash different from the mb bios? is there a bios for just the vidcard?

2. Do I need to tweak voltages? or not b/c it's a 7900GTX?

3. What's the best way to monitor temps, and what are normal & borderline temps?

4. What are we fighting for anyways?

peas out,
kooter

if you use 1.24 volt, you need more electric current (W). i read about this long time ago, but i forgott it.

the thing is that i found a Xps m1710 power supply on internet for 40 euro, but it wasnt a Dell product, (it was a copy, and they can be very bad for your laptop (if you have bad luck), my friend bought a copy power supply to his laptop, the supply puched to much Voltage to his laptop, and something got bad.

for me, its worth this 20 extra euro, to get a Real Dell Xps m1710 130 W supply.

you feel a big differnce when you overclock with 130 W instead of 90 W.

this is going to be fun....he he

me to. i read some quotes about some guys who OC thier 9400 with Xps power supply. it run much more smothly, much less heat, and they could easiley OC higher (of course). here i have stable clock, gpu-heat = 75 C, no artifacts BUT my 90 W supply gets realy warm. so when i get my 130 W supply, i should be able to have this clock like nothing. http://service.futuremark.com/orb/re...0&UID=10674740

original have
go7900gs : 1 volt
go7900gtx : 1.24 volt
go7950gtx : 1.32 volt

BUT all this 3 card have exactley same design (chip = G71M). thats why you can use 1.24 volt on go7900gs. (so if you have a go7900gtx, it run with 1.24 volt). you cant flash go7900gtx with higher voltage. (only go7900gs who can do that).

OK - I've created SEVERAL COASTERS and need some serious help creating the CD.

I have NERO 7 and have tried everything I know to creat the boot CD.

Someone please help!

Edit:

I figured out the CD issue.

I just ordered a 130w PSU from Dell. Now, with the stock 90w adapter, what are the max recommended clocks with the card flashed with the 790GSUON.ROM (1v) without artifacts?

read my report in this thread several pages ago.
it's around 460/680 with the results slightly varying from card to card.

uuhhhhh, so what .rom file do I use with a 7900 GTX in an E1705?

ok, first of all, forgive me for not reading 71 pages of content >.<

the only question i have is, i use the fw 92.91 driver for my 7900gtx.
i applied the new bios, went to windows > nvtool and set the clock rates.
i restarted, and the clockrates are reset like there was no new bios applied
(yes, i looked out for the "apply these settings at startup"-button and no, there is none :-/ )

any suggestions would be great -.-

thanks-a-lot, tvr

you forgott one little important thing. Modded INF ! (you need modded inf installed in your 92.91 driver. (or coolbits, but i like modded inf better, why use a extra program when you have modded inf), whitout modded inf you cant overclock properley. i can also recomend 84.69 to your go7900gtx (XP), VERY stable driver made by Dell for go7900gs/gtx. anyway. bring 84.69 http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...showtopic=9944 or 92.91 http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...howtopic=11050 zipp up the driver then right click on Modded INF and choose "save link as"...............save the link into the driver done...................just remove the old driver...........and install the new driver now you can OC

On vista, with dell's latest stock drivers, I oc'ed my 7900gs using the 1.24v bios to 550/740, any higher, my screen turns complete red but windows did not crash, i just can't see anything, I can still shut off my laptop by pushing the power button and thats how I recover...

so anyways if i run my 7900gs at 550/740, using a 90w psu, it seems pretty stable at the moment, i played cs source for 10 minutes and it was fine... but in the long term would this be an issue? will my 90w psu burn out? or is it only for people running it at 600/800 that needs the 130w psu? thanks!
coolbits its of course a extra software (or what you will call it). if you find it inside the remove/add program list, you have a extra software/program.

Modded inf is just a file who change a other file in the driver. thats it.

its not a must to have a 130 W PSU, but it helps A LOT. it dont mess up your 90 W power supply, it makes your OC easier (you can easily OC higher ), and you dont have to worry if your laptop turns off suddenley

remember that a M1710 with go7900gtx (who use 1.24 V original) have 130 W power supply.

you sure a e1705 with a pa-10 90w psu, can use a 130w pa-13 ac adapter right? I checked the specs, the output 19.5v is the same on both adapters, but the A (amp) is different.
