Unlocked Nvidia-Dell Video BIOS! Overclock your 17inch notebook Videocards! - Page 55

and as for the oc limit: as a lot of people stated before, each card is different.
some can't go higher than 450, i could go as far as 470, but even 5 MHz higher and i get artifacts (oon atitool and in games).
however, always check your temperature in the beginning, i recommend the logfile of atitool (settings->temperature monitoring->gpu max). mine didn't grow at all after the oc, it's still max 83, never got higher so far, even if playing bioshock, nfs carbon, stalker or tomb raider anniversary, so i feel safe with this degree of oc.
some members here claim that temps around mid 90s are still ok, however, i'm afraid that's already risky and you should be prepared to get some problems in the future. but everyone has to find out himself, maybe i'm just too cautious.

This is with all settings high and with my resolution actually at 1768x992.

lol avg 18fps! and you complain about me criticizing you? i dont know who would call 18fps on average smooth gaming haha or even call that "slight hesitation" and min was 7fps thats like flippin thru a comic book

this was exactly what i was talkin about i dont know why you say what i said was wrong...

The ATI Tool program isn't reporting artifacts, but you can certainly see them in the upper third of the 3D test screen. Anyone have any recommendations?
atitool sucks for go7900gs, use stock driver + modded inf. then OC directley with the driver. simple and good. i play Bioshock in Native (wxga+) with AA/AF on medium. and with a really high overclock. (see 3dmark06 scores below) so i find it very very strange that my go7900gs with NO overclock should be able to run Bioshock in 1920 x 1200.

do you already apply this 130 w power supply? if yes, how do you get 75 C with an oc like that? do you have a dual pipe card? or some other cooling methods?
and how do you know your temps without atitool? the nvidia 84.69 driver doesn't have an logfile as far as i know so you can actually never check the max temp.

i think he must have a dual pipe to have that kind of temperature, i overclocked 600/750 and the temp was around 90C s ...

i wonder if opening the ram slot plastic cover on the bottom of the notebook would help with a bit of additional cooling...

when i example play Bioshock with 600/800 (1.24 v) and look on the gpu temp during the game, i nearlly allways have ~75 C (maybe sometime when i looked i had 78-80 C). its actaully 100% true (have single pipes (alu). i heard its only xps m1710 who have dual pipes (copper) with their go7900gs) by the way, how can you see if you have dual or single. (you must open the laptop and look, yes ? )
yes you have to open it up and look
you have to take out your keyboard, then you can see it on the right (in the area where the f11 button used to be)

the only mobile cpu you can OC is T7600G. (Xps m1710 only). it have their multiplier unlocked.

Did I ever say you were "wrong"? All I said was quit being so critical, grow up - and be CONSTRUCTIVE. I do not know how to explain it other than what I've already said - it is only hesitant on occasion. I would be careful the way you present yourself on this board. The Mods are not very tolerant of flamers.

lol you need to calm down, i wasnt even flaming. i don't know why you keep insisting i was flaming you, and i WAS being constructive by pointing out what you said to be not exactly accurate, otherwise it might mis-lead some people into thinking they can actually play the game at such high resolution when actual fps is so low (10-20 in action sequences).

And my last post regarding this - You are questioning my integrity. That IS flaming. PM me if you have more...the members of this forum, I'm sure, would rather read tech data than this...

Does the 7900 GTX BIOS that has the tighter RAM timings have any advantage over the normal unlocked one? Does it allow a higher oc? Seems like it would be lower since the RAM is tighter

Im a bit afraid, On the website, i see 1200 mhz for memory (for 7950 gtx) or the stock value is 600 Mhz!! Whats wrong?
I dont want to burn my card lol
I'm guessing the timings on the site are all effective ddr rates. So, 600 x 2 = 1200. Same thing, just different notation.

My info: Dell E1705/9400, Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 2 GB RAM (533), Geforce Go 7900 GS.

1st I tried the 1v bios, and set the videocard to 470/680. When I ran 3dMark06, I would get artifacts & screen flickering - so this wasn't working well.

Then I used the 1.24v bios (790gsuov) and I again set it to 470/680. Ran 3dMark06 and no artifacts or screen flickering - so it's working perfectly.

My 3dMark06 scores went from 3664 pre-hack to 4554 after the overlocking & bios, quite an increase for no money :-)

The average Core temperature was about 84C during the whole 3dMark06 tests, with highest being 87C, lowest 73C (but that was during the CPU test I guess). But 84C avg. isn't bad at all considering I got max of 84C without any overclocking (dunno the avg. temp. w/o overclocking, didn't measure it). Anyway, my guess is that I could even up it more than 470/680. Oh, and this is all with the standard Dell PSU (90W I think?).

hi guys im a long time lurker first time poster.

I have a dell xps m1710. this means that I have the 130w power brick and the dual pipes set up.

I've got a 7900 gs (256, ofcourse)

I've checked my revision and it is rev 0.

Right, that's the spec.

I am looking to overclock my card, but am trying to be absolutely sure of every aspect becuase this is the first time i have overclocked. I have read the whole thread but I am still uncertain on a few things...

what i need to know is:

1. what is an ok temperature for the xps m1710 to run at considering the dual pipes and larger power supply.

2. is it safe to set the card to 1.24 because of the xps's larger power brick? or is it still not recomended.

3. it seems that JuanLu method is better than the gsx flash(for the m1710). am i right in thinking this?

If anyone could answer these questions i would be very grateful.
