Unlocked Nvidia-Dell Video BIOS! Overclock your 17inch notebook Videocards! - Page 62

Hi there again,

It seems that I didn't read the entire thread on the subject.... There were more people with wrong BIOSes on the Quadro FX1500M. I also found another thread on the subject with directions on how to create your own BIOS based on your own original BIOS....

I've flashed with the changed BIOS and everything is running as it should now. I'm testing a mild overclock right now and I'm going to test a more aggressive overclock after a voltage raise.

Thank you all, folks!!

Hello all whats the best way to OC my card with permanent flash settings...cause I'm tired of using the utility every time i start vista ..Thanks
post #1224 of 1404
Well, you could edit clocks uding NiBiTor, and then flash that to the card.

Or, you could (if you have ATiTool as your "utility") set it to apply on startup and then close after application.

yo guys , i've managed to find the boot menu blindly and i've downed JUANLU's ISO but when I type nvflash -4 -5 -6 791GSUNV.ROM or nvflash -p -u -f 791GSUNV.ROM all I hear is the dvd drive spinning (I was glad at that time and thought everything would be fixed after i flash the card again bling with the rev 1 rom)but then the computer just beeps and I wait a bit and restart but the LCD remains black.please help guys!!!

@Gflyer1 - With stock volts, I've gotten to around 500/605, without editing the geometric delta clock. Who knows, yours might be able to go higher.

@bosrixx - This is what I did. I accidentally interrupted a flash partway, and in doing so, corrupted everything to shit. I sent mine to Dell, yelling profusely about how it randomly stopped working, and said nothing of the BIOS. I still had my warranty, so they replaced the card like that. Then again, I feel kinda guilty. It's your choice.

Ok. I just flashed on the unlocked (not volt-modded) 7900 GS rev.1 bios onto my system. How can I tell if the card is indeed unlocked now?

install rivatuner or any overclock utility ...
Hey,

I just recently got myself an m1710 with a 7900gtx. I however cannot get either of the two unlocked bios's to work(UN or UO). I've tried flashing to both. Everytime it comes up and says the flash has completed but when i go to coolbits/atitool/rivatuner all 3 will allow you to change the speed of the cpu and memory but as soon as you click apply it reverts back to 500/600. It's very frustrating!!

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Yep. I noticed the same thing. I am running 169.28 and there are reports about them and broken overclocking ability. I may revert back to 94.22 and see what happens there.

Above 2 posters, this is a VERY common problem that is listed in many of the driver threads.
You need to do some reading (or at least a search on these forums and/or Laptopvideo2go)

All of the drivers above 169.04 DON'T allow SOFTWARE OC'ing.
Meaning, you cant use rivatuner/ntune/ATItool to OC your video card.
What you need to do is either use 169.04 or earlier drivers or flash your vid bios with the OC clock speeds.

Some people find that they are able to OC with these drivers, but my testing shows that it is "iffy" at best.
Usually you can only change the clock once (and usually only the core will change, not the memory) and then that speed is stuck until reboot.
And, that is the "best" scenario.
Usually nothing happens.

So, either go back to 169.04 or earlier or mod the vid bios with OC speeds like we used to before the unlocked bios's came out.

Agreed.

I don't see much of a performance difference with the new drivers... I'm just sticking with 169.04.

Pardon me am I daft? I'm not sure what this huge thread is for, if I can just overclock with Rivatuner everytime I want to play a game, what is this Bios flashing useful for?
I must be daft
But, if I overclock with the older drivers and then install the new ones, the overclocked values remain or I lose it?
@Andlastly - You can't overclock with RivaTuner until you flash the unlocked BIOS; you've gotta flash at least once to OC.

@Dark_Ansem - No idea. I think, though, you're better off just sticking with 169.04 or a little older. The new drivers don't bring much of a perf. gain anyway...

not even the modified ones you host (great BTW, love 'em)?
