Unlocked Nvidia-Dell Video BIOS! Overclock your 17inch notebook Videocards! - Page 63

Correct. Dell locks out the BIOS, and you can't overclock without a new BIOS. All the MobileForce (and similar) drivers do is add compatibility (across other GPUs - that aren't supported on stock drivers (at least, beta drivers...)) and a few tweaks to make things look a little better. No significant performance gains.

hey one question does this work with a 7900GS 512 VC that runs ona aurora 9700

No idea. This is, after all, the DELL 17" forums. I'd suggest you ask in the Alienware forums, as you do have an Alienware computer.

I think that you do not have downloaded the correct modified INF, possible?
Ok, 7800 gtx, how do i use this ISO from Juans site to flash my video card? What page on this giant thread tells me the steps, or does someone know easily enough to tell me quickly?
You have the correct ROM file (I don't have the list of device BIOSes off the top of my head) ?. I think you can just burn it to CD, and then pop it into the drive, boot to your CD, and type
Quote:
nvflash -4 -5 -6 {filename}.rom
into the prompt. It should confirm (I think...) Then, wait for it to say, flash finished or whatever, wait a few seconds (just to be sure, you can permanently brick a card if you interrupt a flash), and then press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart, and boot back into Windows.

Ok I am a lil new to bios flashing a vid card, so please bear with me on this. Just installed a 7900gs dual heatpipe into my E1705. Fennuxx suggested the rev 1 bios I have already and need to know what all I need to put on the cd for bootup? I need NVFlash too on there with the .rom correct?

so i type in: nvflash 791GSUNV.rom when it boots from cd and type Y to accept?

edit:

ok got nvflash and made a bootable cd with nero and added nvflash and the rom i needed but just getting some numeric errors whn trying to flash from d:\

I have a guide on different ways to make bootable media in my signature. You might find it more intuitive to use a bootable flash drive. It offers benefits such as the ability to read and write in dos. Granted you could get the same capability with a small fat32 partition on your HD with the cd, but this method is simpler.

I have a slight problem.

Running 7800GTX
JLMOD has been installed on the 7800GTX prior to my harddrive failing.
Downloaded and installed 169.xx drivers, coolbits, atitool and the nvtuner thing.

AtiTool will NOT let me select my old clocks anymore. 460/1200.

I know it has to be something I am missing, but anytime I try to select even 1mhz higher, it gets set back to the defaults.

I think 169.09 does not allow overclocking. Use 169.04 instead.

That's just great.

Thanks, I don't have to do anything special to downgrade a driver do I?

ah nevermind, I'll just delete everything anyway

i need help
i flashed my gs rev 1 with gtx rev 0 bios and got hte black screen
the problem is i can't undo it... the blind flash manuver does not work for me
tried 791gsnnn.rom / 791gsunn.rom and 791gsunv.rom
HELP!
Amber - You're probably screwed. That's what happened to me.

Call Dell (and I know it's morally incorrect, and it ate at me for the first five minutes) and tell them you're not getting any video, and you didn't do anything. They'll ask you to reseat the LCD cable, and then do a little bit more diagnostics (by a little, I mean a lot). They'll ask you to send it in (if you've still got the warranty), and they'll put in a new video card. Just make sure not to tell them about the unlocked BIOS, mkay?

And be more careful next time.

Read my thread on bootable recovery. If that doesn't work then the card just isn't recoverable in a general sense.
i managed to recover 2h later
the thing is i reflashed step by step
(the recovery thread didn't do it for me )
rev0 nnn to rev1 nnn
and it worked

You talking about my thread or the single post linked to in the beginning of this thread?
