that is so true, I loved my 7900gs to it overclocked like hell too! but the 512mb on 79xx does help!

both go7900gs and go7900gtx is designed for 1.24 volt. Nvidia reduced go7900gs voltage with - 0.24 volt, just so go7900gtx could perform better.

thats why go7900gs can be overclocked so bloody hell much. the chip handle 1.24 volt perfect

Hey all of you! I'm reposting this question and hoping for an answer *crosses fingers* I'm trying to get more preformance out of my huge desktop replacement (which could eat the asus e for breakfast) and am stuck with the 84.69 drivers. I have an M1710, so I tried getting the dell specific 90 series drivers which apparently give great preformance gains. Unfortuneately, I uninstalled the old drivers, installed the new ones and had a strange issue of upon rebooting windows trying to take over the gfx card and me losing the nvidia control panel along with all my custom settings. It's odd, and I was wondering how I could keep the control panel and all its settings while having the new drivers. Even kindergarden steps would be appreciated cause I obviously effed up. Thanks Alot guys!

Btw, last stable overclock with 7950 go gtx was 688/800 DDR3.

Try using driver cleaner after uninstalling your old drivers, one its clean then install the new ones. I hope that helps

Depends on which drivers you are trying to use. The newer nvidia driver use the new control panel which isn't reallly a problem as long as they offer the taskbar icon. Now, if you are using 90 series drivers and you, like me, prefer the old panel then there is a registry setting you can use. I will get around to telling you about this and giving you the file soon but I am a bit busy now.

are you talkin about a tweak with which we can have the classic panel in the newer drivers ? pls post , the only reason I hate the new drivers is bcoz u need ntune for overclocking

84.69 rules so damn much.

i have use 84.69 from day one and to all games (from Crysis to BF2 & CSS) and it allways rules

apparently the 90 series drivers give up to a 10% boost in preformance on dual core systems, that's why I'm looking into it big time, otherwise yeah woot for 84.69 drivers, beer all round! Btw what's your best overclock KSMB? I kinda wanna compare mine and see if I should re-flash for more voltage. (I live where the ambient temperature is hovering around 2 )

Depends on which drivers you're talking about. For 90 series, sure. http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...+control+panel

Hello, newb here...
I'm running an XPS m1710 with a Nvidia Go 7900GS card, ive flashed the video card bios using the JLmod (as seen here: http://www.notebookforums.com/thread185501.html)
and it seems to have worked fine

I've tried to oc my card using ATI tools (0.27c) but no matter what i do, the settings pop back to default, Actually, that's not true. I can set the core clock in 2d settings to whatever and it stays there, but the other settings do nothing. it's like the bios flash didn't unlock my gpu.

Am I missing something, like maybe the roms provided by jl wont work on my system? or is ATI tool not compatible with the GO 7900Gs?

Thanks for any help...

It might be because of your driver version, as some of the newest drivers released by Nvidia and Dell don't allow you to overclock the card. I'm currently using v101.19, and its working fairly well for me. Find that version, install it, and then try adjusting your clocks again.

With a voltmod of 1.24 volts, I have my card clocked at 580/600. The voltmod should be safe, seeing as its the exact same chip used in the 7950 GTX, and the GTX also has the same voltage.

Also, try ATI Tool 0.26. I think the newest beta has some problems with it.

Hey Guys, This is a VERY wierd thing for me, call me a noob or something but I have a strange feeling that this isn't right. I went to play a game after shortly installing a program called rthdribl.exe (just a gpu program) and it was slow. Like rediculously slow. So I proceded to overclock it. STILL incredibly slow. Now I have found out that the Pixel and Texture fillrates, along with the bandwidths all seem to change now according to clock speed. What had happened was that gpuz reported my clock of 663/820, with a Bandwidth of less than 7 GB/s!! Now, I definately remember my specs, and that value has never been less than 50 for all that I've remembered seeing. Now I may be crazy, but I've tried system restore along with seeing what that program did if anything to cause this. Is this normal? What the hell is going on?

Ok they're not working, just go here and you can see the pictures.

Hey guys.. I'm looking at overclocking my GeForce Go 7900 GS. I have the 90W power adapter. I do not plan on getting the 7900 GTX. Do I need the 130W adapter?
Also is this possible??? My clocks are already unlocked? I downloaded ATITool and it's allowing me to adjust clocks and they do NOT reset and my FPS is increasing as I increase the clock. I haven't done ANYTHING. Is this possible? :S

I believe with older drivers the card needed to be unlocked but with the newer drivers you can overclock with a stock rom.

Certain drivers need one a certain bit to be high, others need this same bit to be low (bit 3 btw). If you set bit0-bit3 high it will unlock for all drivers but there are power side effects, hence why we still have two versions of rom's for each 6 and 7 series GPU. Now aren't you glad others put in the time to do this stuff for you.

is it safe to have the memory at 800....??? (i mean, does it mather if i have it on 700 instaed of 800 ???)

its the core you should be carefull to overclock to much yes.. (i just double check here)

i use 1.24 volt...OC at 600/800 (or 550/800 often)

i think i remember that someone told me that the memory is no problems to oc to highest point (800)...correct ???
