That depends on whether or not you want the ability to change the clockspeeds via software. If you flash your card with his unlocked and unoptimized GTX BIOS, then use coolbits to set the clocks to 600/800 there will be no performance difference between the GSX and the new settings. (other than you can change speeds on the fly...)

And if you would choose a too low voltage in 2D-mode... what happens then ?
Well I think I`ll stay with 1V in 2D-mode
post #144 of 1404
The lowest voltage option you will have is .8 volts. I have seen a couple guys on here that are successfully using that voltage with no issues. Try it out, you can always flash back if it doesnt work out. As long as you don't try and tamper with the boot clocks, then it will be a reversible fix for you. If you boot into windows and it locks up at the desktop, you know its time to try a little more voltage.

question, is there any benefit/need to change the voltage of the 7900 GTX?
Being that the GTX uses the same exact core as the GS, then yes. The real benefit would be cooler running temperatures at full load, which I think is a big bonus. The 2D settings can be voltmodded down a bit also, to perhaps acheive a bit more battery time, and even cooler idle temps.

please, help, am i doing right.

im following this steps, and on step 4 i type 790GSUOV.ROM. (and the laptop runs at 1.24 volt, ? )

then everything should work ?

is the 1.24 volt flash BEST ? does it got highest temp with that also ?

If exprience buddys from the forums agree with me i will warn that THIS IS NOT A BUG!!!!!!!!!!
its supposed to be like this to save battery life, so noobs
dont use the bios as your permanent bios, as soons as you are able to make your own, plz make one that suits your batter life needs.

He's right, when on battery my card stays in full power 3d mode so if I play a game on battery (which I do occasionally) I get at least 45 minutes less battery life If it is possible juanlu, could you (or anyone else who has the version without this issue) host it somewhere so people here that use their laptops on battery can use this wonderful mod without losing their battery life.

EDIT:
Never mind, he only unlocked the max performance setting for powermizer on battery if you set it to "balanced" it will work like it should.

The rom unlocks the clocks so you can change themin windoews, tHTAS great, but then agin the original ver 1 was perfect. Now Noobs will get less battry life. About Krayziepop posts over voltages, i found no evidnce in power drain or WATS using my programs so i cant says its true, but then again i cant say its false.. regarding the timmings, you wont get to 800mhz with the gs bios on a gs card, try it, and you will se it fries or locks up, i would recommend the battery life thing back and maybe some REAL optimiced memory settings. I AM Glad he send me this link now my card runs even better thant before now that i can select profiles and even get higher clocks with some tunning, THNKS AGAIN!

you guys rock!

1 more thing, i am still waitong for the PM with the data in (español/english/Deutash) to review it lol i would like to know more.

And one mor question from me...
Could someone please enlighten me how to add my "self-created" Bios to the CD of juanlu, so that I can boot with this CD ?

Ok What bios have u used? The GS bios with optimized timings and GTX voltage will obviously give you shorter battery life when gaming.

GS original bios stays att 1 V whatever clock u run. Modified GS bios Ups u to 1.24 V when entering 3D mode thus decresing battery life.

Option is to use Mr K-pops rom and keep the Voltage low for 3D.

I agree with Mr K-pop. Lowering Voltage does Work

Currently running

VID 3 = 0.9 V
VID 7 = 1.0 V
VID 4 = 1.1 V

595 / 600 Stable

So what bios you use, GS or GTX?

The voltage and clocks arent the issue here, cuz thats UNDER POWR SUPPLY, the entire point of powermizer is to lower clocks, voltgae and god knows what else during battery. again just an adviced i am not the developer of this roms, i find them great for me and others who know how to take advantage of it, but others may not.

I'm using 790GTXUO.ROM but i modified the voltage settings.

The reason to why i belive that voltage actually change as they should is that temperatures of the GPU and the powerbrick decreases with lower VID 4 Voltage settings.

I use 91.52 drivers with modified inf. "HKR,, PowerMizerEnable, %REG_DWORD%, 1"

Disabeling Powermizer will cause clocks to be at maximum performance all the time thus making the GPU operate at 1.24 V on a normal GTX bios. That is why battery time will differ between GS bios and GTX bios unless u set to maximum power saving on battery. VID voltages Wont change properly unless u have three different VIDs with different voltages.

Am I all wrong or Just lucky beacuse it works for me.
so explain this to me, juans bios disables powermizer so the batterylife will suck b/c the card will always be runnin at full power. Is there a way to make it NOT disable powermizer/is this the only thing thats effecting batterylife when using this bios?

also can someone explain voltmodding to me as it pertains to the GTX cuz im an idiot
post #160 of 1404
Even with the GTX powermizer downvolts and downlocks, the difference is timmings, max voltage, and maz clocks. If you report yours working fine thast maybe a driver thing Cool, i might try that then too. But so far i get artifacts i wasnt getting before ... i would like to know what he really change to unlock them so i can make my own room... cuz these gimme artficats (only to me).
