Could you explain why you increased the voltage .1v? The card runs pretty hot at stock settings and bumping the core voltage I assume will cause throttling issues due to the temperatures. My card already hits 90 degrees while playing 3d intensive applications. Thanks for your work on this again

lol he is still mad at me and cares BS if someone translates it or not, well thats what his pm said... :/ anyway people, there you have it, how to unlock the bios mannually to create your own roms that will adjust to your own needs. this is a very good explanation of what some of the bios entries do..

Should I be noticing in inrease in my memory OC potential? My OC's before this bios were 550/650, any higher and I artifacted, but I got rivatuner and atitool up and while 560/660 gave me artifacts, 550/700 hasn't yet. Mind you, I'm the idiot who took the thermal pads off of my GPU heatsink
post #267 of 1404
I just want to say thanks. My highest before this bios was ~8k. I just scored 9710 at 650/1600. Compare link here.
yea my core is stable at 550 but rite now my memory is at 750 and I'm not artifacting in atitool...hmmmm

Thanks again
Was just curious because my voltage tab in 3d is listed as 1.28V.
I'll give it a shot and report back what temps i get using this on the XPS GENII with the 6800 ultra.

So far so good You guys are great! I am idling at around 59C and everything seems stable. I let the NVidia Control Panel find the Optimal setting, and it has landed on 550 Core/700 Memory, which is where I will keep it until I wanna play Oblivion or something ha. Before I altered the voltages, I had clocked the card to 600 Core / 800 Memory, and it ran without artifacting in ATi Tool. I was running a little hot, at about 91C, but that is to be expected? Are Krayziepop's settings ok to use in the 790GTX.rom??? Also, the slider in the NVIdia control panel stops at 800 Memory. Is this normal? Edit: In addition, before these new "unlocked" BIOS were released, I was getting artifacts at 600/800, but now I am running perfectly stable. Whats the difference between the old one from Yolda's roms and the new one provided by Juan?
Hey KManZ, new owner of a 1705 with a 7900gs, read up on all 17 pages. I'm following your post, and was curious if you came up with any better settings than the above shown in your pictures of NiBiTor for a balance between voltages/temps/OC capability? Or does your shown settings work best? I'm using the 790GSUON.ROM rom modified with NiBiTor to the settings you suggested above. Anything else? I'm getting ready to flash if anyone else has any suggestions!! Thanks!! You guys rock!!! - EDIT: Ok, just finished my 3dMark05 with the stock bios:6061 using drivers 8.4.6.9 Going to flash!!!

I can confirm this works fine with out any increased temps.

Same here. I always see a bunch of people saying that when overclocking the Ultra, there is like some giant increase in temps, but I'm getting the same or similar temps. I got 1000 extra 3DMarks just by doing the "Detect Optimal Frequencies".

No sir I do not. I want to clear things up with you juan. I apologize, as I knew I had come across harsh and wrongly. With the holidays, things have been pretty hectic around my place and I misplaced harsh criticism towards you. That was unfair to you and all who have benefitted from your mod. I guess it kinda bugged me that you were initially being so secretive about the whole thing. We have all been very anxious for somebody to come along and start whacking their way through the new BIOS's on these newer cards. Honestly I had no right to critique you for that, and you have a right to be proud of your work. I have been wanting to do what you have done since day one... unfortunately my E1705 is used as my work laptop and if I did somehow screw it up, it would cost me time and money which right now is not a leisure I have to spare. Personally I am glad that someone else took the helm as the lab mouse finally Anyway, as I have said before you are a very welcome addition to these forums and I hope you stick around. Most of us are easy to get along with, including Mr. Yolda . He may sound as though he is coming at you offensively, but really its just his way of getting his own point out. I am sure he has meant no harm by anything he has said here. Well, its my turn now to start some more modding. I have the dremel tool ready, and its time to make the heatsink work a little better than it normally does. Pics will follow sometime later tonight or tomorrow morning. Have fun guys!

have you totaly erase the "old" driver before you install the "new" driver.

use the 1 volt flash, and the temp gets lower.

Yes but the card randomly crashes at 530-611 using 1.28v.
Card works flawlessly at 530-611(1.22ghz) under extensive testing in game using the 1.38v setting without increased heat. Still never goes above 90c

Thanks for all your help!!!
The card will throttle if it gets too hot so unless its throttling dont wory about the temps. Mine throttles the cpu and gpu at 92c.
