Unlocked Nvidia-Dell Video BIOS! Overclock your 17inch notebook Videocards! - Page 15

Does this all have any implications at all for getting the 7900 into the i9300? Sorry if the question seems silly but card upgrades are proving rather scarce.

I think my posts posting times are messed up...Oh well. Thanks for the tip on the throttling. Isn't that a little dangerous though? Mine says it throttles at 102c which is really hot....but then again I'm not familiure with OCing notebook GPUs. I installed I8kfanGUI and its kept the GPU's peak temp under heavy load at 75c which isn't bad, while pulling off a 3DMark05 at 8395. Any other tips?!?!? I noticed my battery is lasting longer, I don't know if thats because my voltage is at .9v 2D or because of the new fan manager.

Thanks guys!!!

woohoo...finally found a program that allows nVidia overclocking in Vista!!!

nvtune seems to do its job in Vista (running in XP SP2 compatibility mode) so I'll have a read through the thread, find the best BIOS for me and give it a birl!
Scotsman, could you post a link? I'm running Vista as well.

question, if I'm planning on dual bootin XP and Vista, if I did my clocks with XP would they stick if I booted up in Vista or would vista automatically set them back...basically, does this BIOS/rivatuner work for vista
post #287 of 1404
So the only bios missing is 1500M... can 2500M be flashed to 1500M? if 7900GTX works on 7900GS, I don't see why this wouldn't work. Anyone any suggestions?

Another question... does 1500M have 24 pipes or 20 pipes? I know it should be the equivalent of 7900GS but can someone confirm this for sure?

An update: I've run into trouble running the E1705 w/ 7900gs at 600/800.

The laptop itself runs at this speed perfectly stable and with acceptable (although sometimes rather hot) temperatures, but it's the power supply (power brick, AC adapter, whatever) that can't keep up.

In some conditions, the AC adapter simply switches off, cutting power to the notebook. It only turns on again if it is unplugged and plugged in again.

In other words, if you want to overclock your E1705 up to 600/800 and remain stable, it looks like you're going to need an XPS power supply.

*NOTE*: This only happens when BOTH CPU cores are being maxed out. So some games won't have this problem unless you're running something in the background. It happens to me while playing Rainbow Six: Vegas, which uses the Unreal 3 engine and supports dual-core processors. I was hosting a LAN game at the time, further increasing CPU usage.

Luckily, XPS power supplies are pretty cheap :P

Ive never had any problems with my power supply cutting out...I think you are unlucky as everyone else has said the power supply has no issues running at 1.24V 600 / 800...

stuckinasquare3 you will need to set up the new clocks in Vista. The only program available ATM to do this is ntune.

ntune is available from HERE

Thanks, Scots. Rep coming your way.

maybe not now, BUT you gone frie your supply if you run your computer at that volt and speed. its take a lot more than 80W to run a 9400 in that speed and volt. (you need a 130 W supply)

Hi i know a person who has flashed of 7900gs to 2500m. I suppose that it is possible to flash of 1500m to 2500m but why?
If you want that i unlock the bios of 1500m and to optimize the memory. Send me your original bios of 1500m here.

Good bye..

With the holidays, things have been pretty hectic around my place and I misplaced harsh criticism towards you. That was unfair to you and all who have benefitted from your mod. I guess it kinda bugged me that you were initially being so secretive about the whole thing. We have all been very anxious for somebody to come along and start whacking their way through the new BIOS's on these newer cards. Honestly I had no right to critique you for that, and you have a right to be proud of your work. I have been wanting to do what you have done since day one... unfortunately my E1705 is used as my work laptop and if I did somehow screw it up, it would cost me time and money which right now is not a leisure I have to spare. Personally I am glad that someone else took the helm as the lab mouse finally

Anyway, as I have said before you are a very welcome addition to these forums and I hope you stick around. Most of us are easy to get along with, including Mr. Yolda . He may sound as though he is coming at you offensively, but really its just his way of getting his own point out. I am sure he has meant no harm by anything he has said here. Well, its my turn now to start some more modding. I have the dremel tool ready, and its time to make the heatsink work a little better than it normally does. Pics will follow sometime later tonight or tomorrow morning. Have fun guys!

Thank you Krayziepop.
It is true, everything has happened very quickly and we have not could take it well.

Let's begin again.. Bye!!

Thanks juanlu for your fantastic bios collection!

I have flashed my Dell M1710 with a 7900GTX with your UO bios, version 4.

When i am on AC power it works perfectly, but when on battery the video card goes slower, much slower.
Way slower than with powermizer on maximum battery.

Even if i force performance mode and atitool reports the full clock(and memory) speed, it is so slow that any low res video stutters badly, even 1 frame each 3 or 4 seconds sometimes.

It is possible that the previously corrected bug is still present in the 4th version?

Thanks very much

Using 790GTXUN.ROM on my 7900GS. Runs very stable. Performs better than stock settings all around. I get around 75-80 C (fangui, so figure a bit higher than that really) after a few hours of gaming. I am idling at about 48 right now, but I am also in a heated room.

The UN (not memory optimized doesn't have this problem).
