Unlocked Nvidia-Dell Video BIOS! Overclock your 17inch notebook Videocards! - Page 32

simple answer:
memory clock >600mhz use memory optimized bios
memory clock <600mhz use normal bios

complicated answer:
The memory optimized bios loosens the memory timings to allow higher clock rates. With the normal bios you can hit about 600mhz with the memory but with the optimized bios you can go over 800mhz. At 600mhz the non memory optimized bios will have better performance than the optimized bios.

I dont want to flash the wrong bios and end up with a dead card. If someone could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it. I dont seem to be able to overclock with the control panel even though ive set the frequencies. Edit: card flashed to gtx @ 601/800(1600)
i just replaced my card the old one said rev a01 as did the replacement card. i flashed the original card with the rev 0 bios and it worked

Oh wow, look what you miss when you take a hiatus XD. Great work Juan, just installed the BIOS on my 7800GTX. Man could I have used this a year ago when I was going for maximum 3DMark scores (writing BIOS in nibitor and flashing to go up inch by inch was a pain). Oh well, if anything, it adds a selling point to the laptop =D. I also sent a thanks your way via paypal .

I should be getting a new 9400 soon with a 7900GS. There's just one thing I'm not clear about after reading through the last few pages of this thread. I know that cards with a newer BIOS won't work with the old 7900GS, but will they still work with the 7900GTX BIOS?
Thanks.

seems ive been posting in the wrong thread, sign that i shouldnt flash. anyways to recap:

ok, i used nibtor to check and save the bios.

some info:

xps 1710 with vista

Bios version 05.71.22.28.01 date 05\12\06 product g71

bios size 62464 bytes, 65536 on disk

http://rapidshare.com/files/20871589/xps1710.rom.html

as i figure its flashing with 791GSUNN.ROM?

i removed all other images from the iso, and added my original one. Also got the ATITool_0.27b1. But im far from flashing, since some pages back people reported black screens flashing rev 1 bios

try contacting krayziepop he helped me, he full of knowledge about this stuff. I dont think he'll mind

Does anyone know if this BIOS will work on the recently shipped Dell 9400/E1705 laptops? I understand the other bios from stormlifter no longer works on these machines.
Anyone Get a laptop in the last 2 weeks that had this work for them?
Bache...

As long as the bios has that one (1) in it you'll do fine, i flashed mine with the wrong one at first due to a typo on Juan's page, but was able to do a blind flash and recover using the bios i believe you have in your thread.

downloaded the atitool 2.7 when its running my whole screen starts to shutter, which driver is the best to use for the 7900gs unlocked with Jual Lu's bios? and where can i find the driver?
Tikan, yes this bios will work with the new cards. You must use the 791unv.rom.

Thank you very much Sandy. I actually tried it very late last night and it unlocked my Memory and Core. I will play with it now and see what happens. Also, I have been looking for a guide to taking the machine apart. I would like to apply AS5 to the GPU. Anyone know of a good one? I don't mind just ripping it apart, but I don't want to do any extra work if not needed.
I have overclocked a lot in the past but I am curious, what is the rough clock speed most people tend to get without upping the voltage?
tikan you can get all assembly / disassembly guides from dell support site
post #637 of 1404
i also would like to know a below safe setting for the 7900gs on xps 1710.

im not after high numbers, but better than original.

also, some guide on attiool, so i dont do something wrong.

I flashed mine to 1.24 volts at 600/800 Everthing runs great. 3dmark05 scores 9300. Max temps hit 86 using i8kfangui. Ati tool is great. I use it to create a profile for gaming. You can use it to auto find your max mem and core speeds. when it starts to artifact just back it off some and save the settings as a profile. I could push mine alot higher but there is really no need. some people hav pushed theirs to break the 10000 mark on 3dmark05
post #639 of 1404
are you on vista?

by specs, only difference is that i have 100G 7200 drive. and 355 card.

im thinking of the 1V flash,

only play games online with friends, like CS and unreal tournament. offline is for console if i have time.

will overclocking make normal apps faster (photoshop, video editing etc)
600/800 was not stable for me at 1v. it won't make photoshop or anything like that faster cause your only changing the 3d clocks. And I am on xp
