yea i have a solution as i had vista and it was going great until i ran 3dmark05 and noticed my score was down by 2000 points, and i even went back and flashed the bios with the gsx flash so it stuck, it was set at 600/800 and yea enough said, i uninstalled vista and installed xp, score was right back the same.

Did you get a 'kernel mode' error popup when u launched ATITool? If so just reboot as for some reason the driver doesn't load sometimes when entering windows.

Some Help please.

I have a 7900gtx and I have flashed the 790GTXUO.rom. I am unable to get any clocks in vista using ATI tool above 560 core and 744 mem. I am using 165.01 drivers. Anyone have any idea why?

This is a new card just replaced by Dell since my Lappy was dropped at work.
My old card I could clock up to 650 core 800 mem easily. I hop ethis isn't a junk card.

I remember I used to be able to get the memory up to 800 or even 700 with no problem, but now anything over 650-700 just crashes Windows and I have to restart... What sort of core and memory clocks are people getting on Vista? What drivers are people using? I am using AtiTool to O/C...is this what people are using? Thanks!
two words...............Vista sucks

Can we expect memory optimised roms for the 7900gs rev1 to be released? Using the 1.24v modded one on mine, core goes over 600Mhz memory stuck at 570 before it starts artifacting.

What is happening in ATITool when u clock higher? Are u getting tons of artifacts when scanning for them or is it crashes and artifacts in game?? I know if I I overlock the mem to around 750 I will just get lines across the screen as soon as I start 3dmark06. My core I can get to around 630 without artifacting in 3dmark06. ATITool shows artifacts of course even at lower clocks. I usually stay around the 625c725m mark. Every card overclocks differently but ur card should be able to go higher with the core.

same here.. props to juan for providing us Rev 1 owners with a modded bios, but we REALLY need a memory optimized one...

Hey Brownstone, I was using the 165.01 drivers and they would just lock up my card at any core speeds above 560 or so. I tried teh Mobile focve 101.70 m6 and I was able to clock back up to 636 using ATITool before I saw any artifacts.

Usually when I would set the clocks with ATI Tool it would just crash and I woudl have to restart. The screen would get full of horizontal lines.

Also it would do the same in games. With the Mobile force drivers I am able to run with 625/750 with no problems. Maybe it was just the 165.01 drivers.

Well thats good u finally got it working. I did test the 165.01 when they first came out and I remember getting a instant crash with horizontal lines when hitting 'set clock'. For me I don't think the core was the problem but actually setting high mem.

I see where the 6800 Ultra is covered, what about the stock 6800 go for my 9300? Any unlocked bios out there for it? Thx.
The 6800 never had any bios locks so you're good to go.

Hmmmm...I still get a "test failed" message from NvTuner whenever I raise the clocks at all. Should I try rivatuner or Ati Tool instead? I'm guessing the Ati Tool works with Nvidia cards as well?

This is my first post in the forum and I would just like thank everyone involved in this thread for helping me acheive my 3DMark05 goal.

My XPS M1710 (specs in the sig) started in WinXP Pro with a score of around 8000 with the basic (rubbish) dell drivers.

Having flashed my 7950 GTX with JuanLu's 795GTXUN.ROM.
Updated the drivers to XTreme-G Forceware v158.16 XP 32Bit as other drivers just wouldn't take.
Had to manually select the 7950 GX2 driver as there is no 7950 GTX driver listed and that one works great.
ATITool 0.26 clocked CPU/Ram to a stable 600/800. Max temp so far 84 C
I finally reached past the 10,000 mark. 10,482 on the first run

I dunno if the score is that good or bad based on my specs but I reached my target so that'll do me!

Thanks again everyone.

Help with this CD. I just flashed both the 7900GS rev0 onto my rev0 card...yes made sure was right card and I also tried the 7900GTX one. I tried both that were for memory optimization and the frequency unlock.
But, when Im in windows and try to modify the clocks either via coolbits or ATI tool....neither of them stick they both set back immediatly to their defaults.
I did not have time to read through all 52 pages of this topic so Im wondering if in the topic anywhere there is a simple solution to my problem.
So, it doesnt seem to be unlocking my card =-(
post #776 of 1404
all drivers from the 158 series and UP WILL NOT LET YOU OVERCLOCK..from what i know...theyv built the drivers so that it LOCKS the stuff ....
Well Im using custom 84.25 drivers in which the .inf is hacked to work with GO video cards. Do I have to use the GO drivers specifically to get the unlock?
As I noted in my first post, I have a Go 7950 GTX, but using the XTreme-G Forceware v158.16 for XP. These driver do not list the Go card so I'm using the 7950 GX2 driver. So I'd say drivers above 158 do let you overclock and with my card you don't need to use the Go drivers.

One thing that has been mentioned that people missed previously, when using ATITool and adjusting the speeds, are you clicking the 'Save' button to save that profile? Otherwise it will just revert back to the standard speeds.

Also, which verion of Windows are you using? XP or Vista?
I have only overclock my WinXP partition as I only use that for games and not my Vista partition.

I have the latest version of the mobile force ware drivers from tweaksrus. I am running Vista (32-BIT). I applied the Coolbits registry change (I also attempted to do it myself since it didnt do anything). With the new nVidia control panel, after adding the coolbits change, it does not show up in the nVidia control panel for overclocking or temperatures or anything. I of course rebooted after making the changes, all the normal stuff, but I dont get anything in the CP. Is it this new version of the nVidia control panel that I cant get to the over clocking settings. I have it set to advanced view as well.

I'm using the 101.70 drivers from laptopvideo2go and I'm right now using ATI to OC. Like just going through the OC testing phase. So far it's the only program, between nTune and Rivatuner that I can see actually allowing me to OC my 6800 Go.
