Unlocked Nvidia-Dell Video BIOS! Overclock your 17inch notebook Videocards! - Page 40

I also have problem OC w/ Vista. Can anyone point me to a right direction OC'ing with Vista? I flashed unlocked bios, and installed XTreme-G MovileForce VS 101.70 driver. How can I make the darn OC panel to show up? Thanks.

Use ATITool with Vista to overclock! Ntune software will add the overclocking panel to NVControlPanel. However this only works for some with Vista with certain video drivers. Rivatuner doesn't work with Vista either.

I use ATITool. Give it a try.

Will Ntune work w/ my driver mentioned above? I'm trying to avoid ATI since I couldn't figure it out back when I was using XP. Thanks.

I haven't tried with any of the 101 drivers since I started using ATITool.

dcpcrepair are u getting any error popups when starting ATITool? Kernel mode driver error?

Yes it is, I disabled it, but it doesnt give me any options in ATITool. So its pretty useles. Not sure why. It worked once, where I got the artifact tester, but I ditn adjust clock settings from there. I got the NTune proggram loaded, but it doesnt let me over clock. Even if I go up liek 2 mhz, the test fails.

When I get 'the kernel mode driver does not appear to be running' error then ATITool won't let me adjust the cocks either. I have to reboot the system and usually the next time I won't see it.. Most of the time I don't get this error but haven't figured out how to stop it. Even with it, I can hit the 'scan for artifacts' button though.

I've used this for some time, no problem at all

Finally figured out how to use ATI tool and got 8998 on 3D05. I couldn't clock as much I used to w/ my old system (600/800 ish) but around 58x/74x. Higher memory kept on artifacting. Anyways, all I did was install the XTreme-G MovileForce VS 101.70 driver, flashed unlocked bio, installed ATI Tool (this was tricky since sometimes it worked and sometimes didn't, keep reinstalling until you can tweak w/ clock settings in ATI tool, save settings, set settings to start the OC value on all users, and you also have to check other things. It will stick then.

P.S. If you get kernel error, keep reinstalling til you get the muliple cores, and memories on ati panel to tweak. You also have to make sure you change the settings to stick. Good luck if you are still struggling w/ darn vista.

Hmn. Temp doesn't even hit 80C while running 3D05 (8998 score). Not sure if I should push more though. Will try some games and see.

Hello everyone. Read every page in this thread. Just flashed my 7900GS rev0 with 790GSUOV.ROM. My question is do i need to use ATITooL to OC or can i just use NVidia control panel to OC? Do i need coolbits for the control panel to work? Im using XG MobileForce 94.20 M4 driver. XP

ty. what's more accurate to use? rivatuner or atitool? when i use nvidia control panel my mem(i think) reads as 1000 but when i use atitool its different. also is it easier to use rivatuner or ati? sorry if i ask too much. lke my avatar says im a tech noob.

nvidia control panel gives you the effective ddr speed (x2) while atitool shows just the clock signal (noneffective data rate)...its just preference of the program that you use...I dont software oc really but if I did I'd most likely just use the nvidia control panel to do all of the work...

I was wondering if anyone else was having artifact problems on their GS cards, after months of overclocking, my card now gives me intense artifacting in atitool, and some other artifacts now and then in games. i tried lowering the clock frequency, but it looks like the cards was streesed becuase of the intense temps 80c < more
post #797 of 1404
hmm...it was to be expected I suppose, although maybe you just happen to have a card that was gonna crap out anyway...These cards can handle around 90 (well at least 6800 series) for long periods so maybe its just the core couldnt handle the OC despite that it was running "cool". By lowering the clocks, you do mean using stock clocks right?

what operating system you on? I find you can't OC as much as in XP with Vista. If you are on Vista, make sure to install as direction given by nvidia.
i am using xp, but my max OC isnt the problem, artifacts are, and they were previously nonexistent
post #800 of 1404
Only example I can provide is my settings, and there are no artifacts on ATI tool under my frequencies below. Have you tried reinstalling, driver, and atitool? I had tons of artifacts on ati tool even at factory settings when the driver I was running wasn't installed correctly. I know it's a hassle, but it's worth a try.
