Unlocked Nvidia-Dell Video BIOS! Overclock your 17inch notebook Videocards! - Page 5

I just flashed to this bios, and noticed that i'm once again hitting around 93c after gaming, which my max was 85c using krazies .rom. well I thought i was only hitting 85, but forgot to reset the offset in i8kfangui, and ati reports 52 at idle. I'm not too happy with that.

I'm using the 92.77 drivers and cant find an nvidia temp display.

I'll have to look into the temps more, with the downgrade from 1.24 to 1v at 3d, i thought i wouldn't hit those high temperatures. i'll also have to check into the dvd issue. If anyone has any ideas get back to me

Mine idles around 55 (although nearer 58 in this Aussie NSW heat)...Im thinking I might flash back to the original ROM and see what happens to temps...

As I said I cant use this newer ROM as there is no way in Vista to overclock....nVidia drivers are still poor ATM...lack of options...

Doesn't it idle at high temps because it stays at performance 3D?
I ususually set it manually to Maximum power saving if I don't game and that works just fine to keep temps low.
I don't know guys, I just modded his GTX bios off of the disc to run at 1.05V again and all is well. Temps are even a little better than before, now that I think about it. I am gonna tear the GS out of the case here in a little while and do a little bit of dremel machine work on the contact surface to see if I can get her a little bit cooler

mine iddles a 48 and tops at 74.

whats this talk about latencies and whats with the 3 different 7900gtx roms? Which one do we use
also im lookin at ur screenshot, whats with the 3 different sets of core and memory sliders, i never used atitool for OCing

sry, i think my question got lost, anyone throw me a bone? haha

just use Nvidia control panel stunkinasquare3, just go to desktop and of course right click and then go to Nvid display: then laptop display, then if you have coolbits installed go to the tab for clock speeds and change them up as you would like, those are the clock speeds your computer will run at when on AC and being stressed.

I can't help you when it comes to the term latency in reference to graphics cards.

Anyway, also just an update....but my video card has been idling incredibly low recently, not that I'm complaining, but at this point its dropped about 10-15C now that my computer IS overclocked. Right now, without offset its at 39C and before it was down at 37C, and also just so you know I am on AC power as well.

I need a little HELP! I installed ATITools, then flashed my card with the appropriate rom, then installed coolbits (it is just a regisrty entry?). Now I can change my clocks via atitools but I cannot keep them after a reboot. In my NV display, I do not have a tab for my clock speed. Is coolbits supposed to just be that registry entry or is there a program that I'm not downloading? Any help would be great@! Thanks!

did u check off the thing in control panel that says use these clocks when you reboot or w/e

Yes, check that or else it won't stay at those clocks permanently. Also, if you want some advice on what to set the clocks on after you flash to the new GPU bios, use the *auto detect optimal values* button on the clock speeds page, this way it'll find the best choice for you then ATiTool it to test for stability Also, before trying this make sure you've flash to the suitable .ROM I assume you've already completed this.

Make sure you have the nvidia display in classic mode so that you have the tab for "Clock Frequency Settings" it should look like this:

Thank you Stuckinasquare and Pdonket! Well I dont have the callsic control panle! Would you mind telling me how I can get it? Thanks again!
right click on the background screen, then Nvidia Control Panel>View>"Use classic Nvidia control panel">click OK> window will then close then right click the background again>nvidia display>laptop display. And just like that, your all done

Rep me if I helped!

Hey thanks again pdonket, but when I right click on my desktop in the menu it shows "Nvidia control panel" but it wont allow anymore options. If i put my cursor on it (nvidia control), I dont get another menu or option with "view". I've trie to find it thoughout but I cannot find an option to change my veiw.

Sorry for being so noobish! Leme know if you can think of anyithing! Thank you!

AHHH!! Nevermind! I found a way to keep the setting with the new Nvidia control panel. The only thing is that you max overclock setting for your memory is 800. Thank you for your info and effort!
No problem! I was a noob with all of this at one point not too long ago as well my max overclock is also 800 mem even with the old control panel. I'm always glad to answer a question I know the answer to
post #96 of 1404
Great stuff, Juan!
Btw, anybody know how to get the memory to go beyond 800 in the control panel?
if you download ati tool, you can select it higher than 800. I currently have mine set to 850. Not sure if it actually sets it or not thought. haven't found a way to double check

You can check with Everest

I think we may want to ask GeForceTony about the extension of the memory clock slider. The problem with using ATITool is that you cannot use ATITool to auto set the clocks at startup. You need the coolbits hack with the classic control panel to be able to set the clocks permanently. Unfortunately if you try to set say an 850Mhz memory clock with ATITool, and then try to use the NVControl Panel to set it permanently, the mem clocks will default back to 507Mhz for the GS and 600Mhz with the GTX BIOS upon a restart.

Tony, do you know any method of stretching that clockspeed slider a little farther? I swear a long time ago I had heard of a method to do such crazy things, but for the life of me I cannot think of what it was... Maybe when I don't have a million things going on at once (trying to play Santa right now ) I will try to do a little more research on the topic.
