Unlocked Nvidia-Dell Video BIOS! Overclock your 17inch notebook Videocards! - Page 42

THANKS EVERYONE!

Here's the end result of just getting the 7950GTX up to speed. (575 core / 700 memory)
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=3019567

Unlocking it and some AA/AF tweaks still yielded a 9,500 in 3Dmark!

Kick it up some. As it stands now my 7900 Gs is beating your 7950. Your card should be able to crack 10,000 in 3DMark05. Give 653 / 850 a shot.
yes, but at 9835 you're maxed out. I have 9500 and a good amt of wiggle room (look at SolApathy's 11,200+ in 3Dmark05).

For now i'm just gonna relish in a stock 9500 and know i got a LOT of free wiggle room. (When i get better cooling i'll go for 10K)
I have pushed it further but backed it off some cause there was no real difference in games at the highest clock i could reach and the current clock I'm running now. I do have some wiggle room left cause I didn't want to max it out. Also I created an oc profile in ati tool that I can just load up when it's time for fraggin so that my card isn't running overclocked at all times.
oK, final score is a 9,526 at the stock clock speed (apparently 575 / 700 = 586 / 712 to my 7950GTX). I know some GSX will beat me, but realise this isn't a competition so much as a way to realise the full power of these cards. The unlocked BIOS is a great thing and we shouldn't argue over it. Some of us are OCers who like absolute speed, some of us just wanna see what the card is supposed to be able to do. I dig both, and i fall under the "what the card is SUPPOSED to do" category.

And if ya all want something we can laugh about, let's go point at the e1705s with the GMA950s and x1400s and how they can't get their e-peens up in 3Dmark

Hey guys, I need a hand.

I burned the .iso off to a CDR, I then flashed to a 790gtxuov.rom, restarted to go back into Windows- and now I can't see anything on my screen. I know the machine is working, I can hear the beeps and all, I can even get into the disc, to reflash (I recognize the beeps and such- but I can't see)- I just need to know what one the original bios would be- so I can start over.

I'm on a m1710, using a 7900GS.

If someone could let me know which BIOS to use, and the steps to reflashing (remember- I can't see the screen- so I need step by step- and wait times before each step)- that would be great.

Thanks!

So I have been trying to blind reflash- alot harder than it sounds. I don't know what ROM to use, nor do I know the exact step by step procedure to follow to reflash, I need to know the wait times for the commands I think. For instance, I power on, wait about 3 mins because I don't remember how long it took before - (it boots directly to the disc for me). I then type in nvflash 790GSUOV.ROM (is this the right one for the 7900GS?) then press enter. I wait about 10 secs, and click 'y' then press enter- I hear a series of beeps, and then I wait about 15 secs and press Control Alt Delete to restart. I repeated this with a few different BIOS files, and I have yet to have any success...any tips? Thanks!

Lindsay, go to page 1 where JuanLu's site is linked to.

Click on the ENGLISH page, and then when you see his link to the unlocked BIOS, you can go and klik on that, you'll see a whole compendium of the names of the unlocked bios. write down the one you want.

Ie: for 7950GTX flashing you'd look at 795GTXUN.ROM.

now if you want to flash it, when you get to the flash screen, you'd type in nvflash 795GTXUN.ROM and it should work. You have to tell the computer not only what to flash to, but WHAT to flash.

The problem I was having- was that I couldn't see anything at all- ever. But thanks to Ganz (who is the shit)- I discovered that I was caught unaware that there was two revisions, and must have used the wrong revision. So I did a blind reflash of Rev0- and it didn't work. I did a blind reflash to the stock rev1, and it worked! Apparently I have a rev1 card. Ganz is the shit, he PM'd me out of nowheres, and saved me.

All you have to is read. It's not a cheap hardware you are messing with. Really should take your time, and read the whole thread.

I do completely understand that buddy but its a 60 page thread, and it will take me hours to find what i'm lookin for,i just want to make sure 2 things: 1) which 7900gs have i got rev 1 or 2 2) can i get more voltage than 1.24v as in the 7950gtx cards? and well which is the best file for me hence the ans of both questions

Revision 0 (rev.0): with bios 05.71.22.16.13. (Flash this one:790GSUOV.ROM)

Revision 1 (rev.1): with bios 05.71.22.28.01.(Flash this one:791GSUNV.ROM)

Only you can tell which version you have by checking driver.

thats right on the nail, where exactly do i find this in the driver, i guess i can use nibitor
post #836 of 1404
Go to 7900GS properties (nvidia) or device manager. I can't exactly recall where it was, but it's there.
Very true, it isn't cheap hardware. But it is also kind of unrealistic for a newcomer, to come and read a 56 page thread.

TO find out which revision you have, simply;

" Right click on the main screen (aka where u stick ur wallpaper) and go to properties

Then go to settings where you change your resolution and click "advanced"

One tab should show allow you to see the basic properties of your 7900GS. Click on the Advanced button. There you should see a long LONG (about 20 numbers) sequence that has lots of x.xxx.xx.xxx.xxx.xx.xxxx.x on it (i don't quite remember all the numbers). If the last # in that chain is a 0, you have revision 0. If the last # is a 1, you have revision 1.

Be VERY careful you use the right unlocking BIOS here, as i do know there are 2 revisions and using the wrong flash for it can be really bad)"

hello,

thanks for reply guys,I did go to that and was checking the bios revision, now is the harder part

I had already flashed my 7900gs bios some time back with a gtx bios!

so now the version being shown is 5.71.22.16.17 but i cant find the advanced tab, this is being shown
under the adaptor tab.I think i do have the older bios file,i'll open it up with nibitor and see what revison it has.

thx again for all the hlep!!

just in case if nyone knows how to know the revision with any other method pls do post!

also cant the revision that i'm running right now can tell which bios will actully work?

I was wondering if the 1.34v 7950gtx could work with our notebook?

kinda ot but i saw a post by firestarter he had in his signature "c2d 2.33-3.06ghz" I was wondering if there is anyway to overclock the processor at all,coz i havent found anything yet!

Just to answer the last part of you question, you can not overclock dell notebooks except for the XPSM1710 with the T7600G cpu which is unlocked, i believe thats the only way to overclock .

hey

thanks a lot,i just searched for T7600G and got to know that, but its darn expensive
