Unlocked Nvidia-Dell Video BIOS! Overclock your 17inch notebook Videocards! - Page 43

Yes you can put the 7950gtx in the 9400...if you've already used the gtx bios you must be rev0, however, yes I know other ways to check your revision than checking the bios version string. Read the bios in with either nibitor or nvflash and if its 62.5 kb then its rev0 and if its 61 kb then its rev1

Just to confirm since I never really got a response previously, I have a revision one (Dell XPS m1710) nVidia 7900GS 256MB. I want to find out which vBIOS I should put on the card. Would the 790GTXUO.ROM be the one I want to put?

I just want to make sure I am getting this right...

Thanks!

I think you can put the gtx rom,but its best to put the rom which is for 7900gs, coz u can be sure ur not going to go wrong! and the only diff is that the name is changed to 7900gtx.

I thought that the other BIOS is supposed to be better?

Anyone that has done this with experience?

every card is different, try the gs bioses first, if they work for you then there is no reason to use another one

Okay, I thought using a GTX or such would allow for higher clock speeds. The GS one, worked fine, I haven't changed the rates yet though- since I haven't been able to find a good tweaker for Vista unfortunately.

Updated thread title so we get less " How to 7900 OC "threads

Lindsay, if you have a rev1 card than you need to stay away from the GTX BIOS as it will put you back into blind flashing neverneverland again. All GTX BIOS'es as of right now are only compatible on a REV0 card!

i have the old version of the gs-card (Rev.0)(thank godness for that. he he) why cant people with the Rev.1 cards use gtx bios flash ? (is it beacuse they missing "memory optimized" ?............. one other thing. i use now 1.24 volt (Rev.0) flash, before i used 1 volt flash. how much more power (3dmark scores) do you think i will get with 1.24 volt instead of 1 volt ? which gtx bios do you use ? (is it from the 7900gtx or the 7950gtx ? ).

I opened my computer for a applyin as5 on my gpu yesterday ,and noticed that I have a Rev 01 card, but I had already flashed wit a 7900gtx bios some months back and now I'm reading that 7900gtx bios are not good for rev 01,but i dont think i have had any problems, moreover what kind of temps could be considered safe for the gs?
my rev 0 card has a rev 1 sticker on it, you have to go by the bios to make certain what revision you have.

Hello all

I've bought an inspiron 9400 with the go7900gs and i flashed my bios with the 790gsuov.rom and then i get a black screen with no information !!

How can i flash it to restore the computer ? Please help me !!
That is what you get for not reading. Search for thread "blind flashing and you".
Don't be a dick achilles.

Alahel - Read back a couple pages- you probably flashed the wrong revision.

Fortunately, your computer is most likely fine.

Unfortunately, you will have to try and flash your laptop with the other revision (791GSUNV.ROM) blindly like I did. Try and emulate the keystrokes you did before. It is difficult, but I am sure you will do fine.

Let me know how you make out,

lol, I guess you're feeling the pain as you did crying for help like a little baby rather than reading. I guess you did all that blind flashing yourself huh? Being a dick here is just ignoring posts like this, and I did point you/and others to the right direction. Your welcome LinsayCole, your welcome.

(first of all, burn the ISO on a CD-R disc, use Nero (Image function. dont forgett to check "CD")
http://home.tele2.es/jlgm/peng.html

Blind Flash;

1. start the computer with the ISO CD-R.

2. press F12 after 3-4 sek _______(tested my self, took me ~3-4 sek, from pure start.(reboot take longer of course))

3. press one time down (with the "down-arrow key") and press enter

4. (type the right flash); nvflash 791gsunv.rom___________(Rev.1)

5. press enter

6. press Y ___________(wait 20 sek, to be sure the flash has been updated)

7. restart the computer____________ (manual)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

edit. if you dont succeed, do it one more time (cant get any worse, he he), sometimes this 3-4 sek after you start your computer can be 4-5 sek or 2-3 sek. just do it until you succeed.

edit again. at step 4, you can also flash to your original VBIOS. for Rev.1 its; nvflash 791gsnnn.rom,
can sometimes works better. then reflash to your overclock flash.

Actually Achilles, ganzonomy helped me from start to finish. Thanks for coming out- but I am not letting anyone else take credit for the work he put in.

Yes I do feel his pain, I thought I bricked my laptop. Am I going to read a 56 page thread? No. I skimmed it. And I missed that part. And I have yet to find a part (no, I am not going to re-read this thread) that specifies this until the past few pages.

You are being a dick when you are not willing to help. If you aren't going to help- don't post. It is a pretty simple concept actually.
by the way, you really dont have to read all 56 pages. on Juanlus website (there you get the ISO-flash),
its stands clearly (with BIG red letters). IMPORTANT....Rev.0 is for VBIOS version.........and Rev.1 is for VBIOS version............
its fairly hard to miss. he he
