I wouldn't know but trust me, you are just fine with the 90 series. My 6800u has already reached a point where driver updates are meaningless and chances are you will see that point too.

yeah, good point..

atitool sucks when you use it to your go7900gs (Dell).

just flash the card // install a XP or a Vista driver WITH modded inf. (then you done. works perfect, allways has.)
(if you want 2 profiles, use Rivatuner).

best driver for go7900gs XP 32-bit (dont forgett modded inf):

Vista 32-bit:

I know its probably been posted before, but I need some help with overclocking. If somebody knows a link to a dummy guide that would be great :P . I understand the flashing process, but I don't understand what to do once I'm back in windows and the overclocking begins. So anyways, I guess my questions are...

1) What Programs should I download? I have an XPS M1710 with a 7900gs and Windows XP Media Center and I'm running Xtreme-G Mobileforce 94.20 drivers.

2) What Kind of increments should I use? I've heard 25mhz at a time. Is this OK?

3) Is it possible to flash my card back to the old bios if I decide overclocking is not for me?

4) Is there anything I need to pay attention to while overclocking so my card isn't damaged? I know about artifacts and I've experienced them with my previous XPS M170, but will there be a massive increase in temp?

5) I know everyones card is different, but whats an average "safe" range to look for?

Thanks for the help.

Okay I am REALLY scared and I am hoping someone here can help. Here is what happened. Just in the mail about three hours ago I recieved my brand new e1705 notebook, I had done a bunch of research before hand and was following the directions found http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64385 Now if you will notice in that tutorial there is NO mention of a rev. 1 video card (You know where I am going with this don't you? So I put the disc in, and flashed with this command nvflash v4851100.rom It flashed, said it was successfull, and I reboted, I was presented with a lovely black screen (followed by me hitting my head on the table) I noticed at that point that even though the screen was black, it light up, and the caps lock light still worked, so the comptuer was running, so I followed the steps to try and get it back to the way it was, I figured I just made the card too high, so this time while I was blind, I typed nvflash 4101000.rom and it went BEEP and I pressed enter I waited some time, and restarted this time, even worse! the caps lock light won't work, I don't think its booting that cd because the disc spins when I turn the computer on, but I can't get it to "respond" and the screen didn't get brighter. I followed the instructions on how to fix a bad flash to the stock rev1 bios, but thats no good. did I just spend $2000 on a brick??? what do I do!!!!! ???!!!!????

The ISO you burned is for Rev 0 cards. It's clear you have Rev1 card so go to first page of this thread, read, burn the unlocked ISO, and follow the direction that you just quoted.

I still haven't resolved the issue with Unlocked bios. So far I have successfully flashed three cards: 7900GS, 1500M and 2500M.

Here's the problem: Video plays fine when laptop is on AC (either 90w or 130w), and it will play fine while on battery. If I put the computer to sleep, wake it up and try to run video on the batter, it can not play video, it slows down terribly. This only happens when I use ANY version of Unlocked BIOS.

Anyone with the same problem? Please try it yourself. Just unplug your laptop, put it to sleep, wake it up and try to play video, it's simple.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That sounds like driver problem, not bios. Try different drivers.

All Right I need some helo too, I already flased my Bios, and try to use AtiTool .27b the problem is that i cannot run any games while i have AtiTool installed i need to uninstalled otherwise the games won't recognize the video card, the second problem is every time i close AtiTools and i open it again, the program won't work all the options are disable and i can't do anything i need to uninstalled and reinstalled again, the same happens when i restar my computer even if i set the option to start when windows starts.

I tried to download the coolbits reg file and nvtweak. None of them work i cannot see the extra options on the Nvidia control Panel.

Is there anything im doing wrong? maybe my drivers??? im using

XTreme-G MobileForce VS 101.70 M6 from tweaksrus.com
post #910 of 1404
Umm, use 158 series drivers
dirtyoldblackma - Like I suggested in your other post follow the guide and the infomation of the first page here you should be fine.

hellstrider189 - Sounds like a driver issue as i depend on sleep mode and i currently use a modified Bios. What version drivers are you using and which windows?

Bajabum - ATITool is flaky but its a semi reliable tool in vista since we cant use any kind of coolbits registry tweaks. Try a newer set of drivers such as the 158.xx series from Nvidia as these work quite well you should be able to find them at www.laptopvideo2go.com do NOT under ANY circumstance use a 16x.xx driver.
thanks i just installed 158.28 drivers, im going to try those, how about NV tweak that dosen't work for vista either, do i need to flash my bios everytime i restart my computer?
No the bios is stored on the card itself...you can even put it on other machines and it will maintain its settings. I thought I heard something about someone using nvtweak in vista but as always, I am not sure.
i tried the new drivers, i still get the same error, and even sometimes when i re install AtiTools, it says something about the kernel drivers could not be found or something like that, but everytime i close the program it wont recognize my card anymore
post #915 of 1404
It's problem with ATI tool. Try reinstalling it.
Mounted ISO to a CD-RW through Windows Exploerer. Pressed F12 and set it to boot from the CD. A blank screen appeared but it didn't allow me to type anything at all. A blinking cursor appeared but it doesn't respond to the keyboard.

Did I mount the ISO wrong or something? I just mounted the iSO to a CD. ANything else to mount besides that?

Meh.
I have no idea what you are talking about....You mean you burned the iso to a cd? Anyway, you want to use a CD-R not RW.
like i said, i have re- insatall it many many times, after i close the program it wont work again, the only thing i can do is uninstall it and then re install it again, and its only good for one time again i cannot close it other wise i would have to uninstall it, re install it.
Yeah that. That sucks. I only have CDRWs. I'll try it using my USB key.

I am in NO way trying to be rude with this, but will someone PLEASE actually read what I am saying? I know how to do a blind reflash, I have been flashing my bios ever since the radeon 9600, without even reading the guides I did the flash again myself, blind, I know what I am doing when it comes to doing to reflash, BUT now my system is acting differently and I THINK something is ****ed up.

Here is what happens.

1. I burned the disc I was told to burn, I confirmed it in another laptop, it is bootable and works great.

2. I put it in my laptop and power off, then power on.

3. the power light comes on, then the cd usage and the HD usage lights come on, the hd light goes away after two seconds and the cd continues to spin for a few more seconds.

4. at this point I used to be able to press f12 (or down enter on my other cd) and get it to read the cd some more, and I knew a few commands that would force the cd to spin up, that is no longer the case, it WON'T boot from the cd.

5. also the lcd is not getting brighter like it used to, the lcd is getting NO signal, its not making a beep when I hold down all the keys, the caps lock light won't come on.

I reset the bios after all this, and it still won't work, can someone tell me exactly the order to press to get into the bios, force it to boot from ONLY cd, and then restart?

even scarier is that without the cd in, it should boot to windows right? it wont!! it won't boot at all.

Now the very very helpfull people at dell are sending me a new motherboard and video card ( I know it was my fault, but I had the computer an HOUR so I'm taking advantage)

any ideas what to do guys?
