Do you have any news on that? Thanks Stefano
Just use NiBiTor 3.4a and above to look at your video bios. But to answer your question anyways, yes.... the 2500M has 2 voltages a 1.0v and 1.24v. As for undervolting your card, well I wont get into that argument. D.

My ultra was pulling 559/693 on supposedly 0.85 V 3d (core voltage) so I am very skeptical about voltage changes in the 6800 go series. Hopefully the 7900 series will react better.

Oh and upping the voltage back to 1.38 V caused no temperature difference and no change in core overclockability.

hmm just exactly how did you change the voltage to 1.38v?
I would not recommend that at all....The highest voltage laptop card is 1.32 V now, its just the ultra was the first high-level enthusiast card. I use nibitor to mod my bios. You can change voltages however through the voltage table and then apply them to your VID. If you wish to use an unsupported voltage you can use the built-in hex editor in nibitor to hex it in yourself. The voltage is represented by two hex bits which allows 16^2 possible voltages starting at 0.00 and incrementing one hundredth for every one bit hex increase.

OK, I have a couple of questions. First, my laptop is already overclocked. I overclocked it with an ISO I got from Stormlifter. I'm currently running at 550/1150 at 1.24v. I'm getting good scores in 3dmark 05(8500+). Now first off, given that I have a rev. 0 7900gs and what I've got it currently clocked to, what file would you guys suggest? I want something stable, but if I can go faster than what I have, I'm up for it. Also, how do you change the voltage? I'm using atitools and I don't see an option for voltage. When I overclocked my card "the old way" I just had to do everything right there in the bios. I'm a little confused how all of this works

Hallo all.
I have an Inspiron with a 7900GS too, and wanted to give it a try. I started with the CD and flashed the GS bios 790GSUOV.ROM as well as 790GSUON.ROM. Flashing was successful, but i still cannot change the clocks.
Unlocked with coolbits, changed the clocks and clicked on apply, but when I open the Nvidia Controlls again, the stock clocks are there again.

Anyone can help me here? I have revision 0.
Also tryed to flash with the 7900GTX bios, but that doesn't work at all. I am getting an error message while trying to flash with the 7900GTX bios.

you need to use -4 -5 -6 to flash the gtx bios provided you have a rev0. As to why your card isn't overclocking, I am not sure, maybe you should try reinstalling your drivers. Many people here prefer uninstalling old drivers and using driver cleaner before installing new ones.

You should use either 790gtxun.rom or 790gtxuo.rom. If you wish to change the voltage you must edit the bios yourself with nibitor. That's all it takes to perform any of these "mods" is just using nibitor. After you unlock the card you can use the nvidia control panel or atitool (or nvtune?) to OC your gpu within the OS.

OK, maybe I'm just a dolt or something, but I can't see how to overclock the GPU anywhere. I have a 7950GTX and Vista Ultimate (32 bit), and although I can get the bios to flash just fine (and everything seems to work) with the 795GTXUN.ROM file, there isn't any apparent setting for clock speed in the nvidia control panel. Atitool also doesn't seem to do much of anything - is this all because of vista?

Sorry for the stupid question...

So what's this about the -4 -5 -6 to flash the gtx bios? I don't get it? Oh, and you should be able to change your settings in atitool. Don't know why it's not showing for you. For me it shows the 2d setting, 3d low(or something like that) and 3d. It'll let me change any of those. Mine won't stick because I haven't flashed my bios yet. Still trying to figure everything out. It does show my overclocked speeds though.
Hmm - I'll try reinstalling atitool then...

EDIT: OK, looks like I just needed to reinstall the latest version of atitool - it's showing now.

My 3dmark05 scores just dropped about 4000 points though...
What kind of clocks should I expect to be able to run safely on a 7950GTX?
Stock clocks are safe. If you want to OC then you can find out your best core and memory pretty easy with an unlocked bios.

nvflash -4 -5 -6 [biosname].rom

JuanLu's ISO doesn't seem to have NVFLASH on it, nor is it bootable... what's the deal? I burned it and I can browse it both in Windows Explorer and DOS and all the files are there but no NVFLASH nor any DOS boot files. Are those hidden or something?
I've never used it but I'm pretty sure its bootable
post #955 of 1404
Well I gave up trying to use his ISO after coasterizing 3 CD-Rs (burned fine but couldn't boot after adding my modded BIOS) and found a USB thumb drive I'd used before, put my volt modded BIOS on it and flashed. Thankfully it worked, so I now have a volt modded, frequency unlocked 7800 GTX and scored 4020 in 3DMark06, high score for me definitely. I think the problem was the program I was using to edit the ISO doesn't support boot sectors (AVS Disc Creator) and after bricking 3 discs I gave up on ISOs, lol.
I use A120 for all my iso's personally but it's not free.

And yeah, no nvflash being on the disk was definitely a bad sign.
I'm running into a bit of a problem with my flash back.. I typed in the nvflash 791gsunv.rom as instructed and all the computer says is command or file name not recognized. any suggetions?
type 'dir /w' to see if you even have nvflash on the disk.
Does anyone know if the site to get the iso is working? I can't seem to get the page to load. And if it is down does anyone have a link that works to get the ISO... Thanks.
I just checked and the iso is up
