Granted I havent checked out any of the "optimized" memory bios files but why dont you run a file comparison on unlocked vs stock and see just how optimized they are...

hello,

i had a big problem with the bios of my precision m90 with FX1500M. I had tried to flash with the 1v memory optimized and overclock unlocked bios and after flash and reboot i had a white screen instead the post logo. after a lot of minute trying to flash the old backup bios I finally solved and reflashed the old bios.

now...i have a little dubt...is it possibile ,as the 7900gs, the FX1500M has a new revision? i bought my laptop in june 2007!

help me

Its very likely actually....Even the 2500m has two different versions now that you just reminded me I was supposed to compare

Hi,
I used to o/c my 7900GS using the old GSX method and was going to try this unlocked bios.
I started with the first step, that is identifying my bios rev.
Weirdly, mine says 05.71.22.16.17
It's neither of the two numbers posted here. What's wrong ? What's ny rev ? I don't want to screw up.

EDIT : nevermind, figured my problem. I had the GTX bios, hence the different rev number.

However, there's something odd. With the GTX BIOS, I was running at 600/740 at 1.01v.
Now with the unlocked GS bios at 1v, I tried the same values and it freezes automatically. No problem at 1.24v though.
Therefore I'm asking the question, is the GTX bios more energy efficient on a GS ?

I'm sure this has been asked many times, but are there any pipelines or shaders to be unlocked with the 7900GS? Also, if I have a 7900GS in a Toshiba, can I still flash it with one of these BIOS?

The Julans bios and the stormlifter bios'es are for dell 7900gs only, but i think you can use nibitor to edit your own bios but do so at your own risk.

Even with the GTX bios, no pipes are unlocked on the GS. As said, you dont want to flash your card with another vendor bios. Edit one yourself with nibitor. If your card is locked within your OS, then check the bios with nibitor to see if its locked within the bios. http://www.notebookforums.com/thread199268.html Some of the steps in this thread are geared towards 7 series dell cards though.

ATITool, despite the name, works for Nvidia cards too. Try it, you'll see. It's easy to use and can stress your card for artifacts too.

I never bothered waiting after the "find max core feature". I did all my testing manually, starting a little below what people get in these forums (i.e. 600/800 for the 7900GS). You increment gradually your core till you find a sweetspot. You do the same thing for the memory. Mine is way under par (740). You can also create overclock profiles in ATITool (upper left corner). In the options, you'll find how to auto-set your clocks on Windows Startup with ATITool, and which profile to use by default. It's a lot of trial error. Actual gaming is the best way to figure if you clocked too far (artifacts).

i think Atitool sucks bigtime for Nvidia (specially go7900gs. gets artifacts easier then Rivatuner. AND YES, IVE CHECK THE RIGHT FUNCTIONS IN ATITOOL). before i OC my go7900gs with 84.69 (modded inf) + Rivatuner. now days i OC directley with the driver (no Rivatuner). so flash your card, install the driver + modded inf. then you done. about the clock speed. you see your clockspeed with your ordinary gpu driver. (but you need modded inf if you want to OC). for me i use this OC settings. 1 Volt. 460 / 800 (mhz) 1.24 Volt. 550 / 800 (mhz)..................sometimes 600 / 800. (but it gets little to hot. 550 mhz on the core is enough)
