Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated, here's my problem:

I have a HP zv5260us w/ everything stock except for an addiction of a 1GB Corsair module, which I added about 2 years ago. In this month, my laptop started not turning on with the AC adapter.
What would happen (on AC power) is that I would press the power button and only the power light and multimedia buttons would light up, no drives would engage, and the screen would not turn on. But the multimedia buttons would still have the blue light. After a while of tries of pressing the power button, same thing would happen except the power button would blink.

Now without an AC adapter, at the beginning, it would always turn on. But now it takes me about 20 times pressing the power button (going through the same thing as described w/ AC power above) to turn it on. Once it does turn on, the optical drive engages, the BIOS boots up and everything runs normally and perfectly.

I figure since I do get the thing to start up and the software environment runs perfectly, it's not a prolem with the drives, RAM, or CPU, but rather perhaps w/ CMOS and the BIOS loading?

Please tell me I'm wrong... any suggestions or perhaps even remote ideas on what the problem is?
